Weight loss is about eating at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals.
I didn't track anything except for calories and not only did I lose over 50lbs, I improved every single health marker my doctor uses, including getting a high glucose number down into the normal range. I didn't cut out any foods that I liked, I just started eating less of them ie less calories. I eat a varied diet, don't track macros, and I don't make this anymore complicated than it needs to be. And remember-the weight loss phase is for a really short period of time, the trick is figuring out what's sustainable for you for the next 20, 30, 40+ years.2 -
Macros. Keeping those in check will give you the balanced meals and keep you under calorie count in my opinion.1

Exactly! Theres so many people pro keto but i do not see it as a sustainable way of eating. I can prob just watch portions and choose food wisely and be fine1

It's all about the calories, but macros might make the calorie journey a bit easier (i.e., higher protein and fat may keep you satisfied longer). But in the long run, whatever you are measuring, it is a calorie deficit that allows you to lose weight.0

I spent 6 month on keto last year. This year I would say it looks like low carb mostly. Now I am experimenting with increasing healthy fat and figuring out safe amount of carbs to eat that way forever.

I want to lose a little more weight and gain more muscle This cannot be done unless you are a novice lifter. Can't create muscle in a deficit.
It doesn't matter if you do keto, carb cycle or any other ultimately it's calories in vs calories out for the weight loss part. While losing weight lift to preserve the muscle you have. Or maybe you are a novice lifter and may create some muscle who knows. Good luck.0
