Ex slimming world gal here!!!

Wondering if anyone has had any success when having a day off every week and pretty much eating what they want?

I'm on 1200 a day, and most days I've added exercise and not used the extra calories

I eat what I want every day! :)

But for seriously, I used to allow my Saturday to be a gross food day since I was usually with friends or just lazy around the house so I'd order takeout. That didn't really work for me. After I decided to take a new view of things, and learn to cook, I started eating better tasting things while staying healthy so there's really no need for me to take "a day off" because I'm not necessarily restricting myself daily. I eat food I enjoy.

And after the first few weeks the thought or craving to eat a big cheese steak and fries or a pizza just don't even enter my mind. There's no need for that one day to eat what I want because it's happening every day.

Not to say that 1 day a week can't and doesn't work for others, because I'm sure it does. It just didn't for me.

I used to have a cheat day every week, but now I do 1 cheat meal a week. I've noticed that when I do a full cheat day I totally blow it. I eat whatever I want all day long. That also makes it harder for me to get back on track. So, once a week I go out to eat with a friend or my boyfriend and I order out. I allow myself to have whatever I want for that one meal and then I'm right back on track. That has worked so much better for me.

    Nope. Not a good plan.

It is really easy to eat enough to pretty much nullify your entire week's hard work. You should be eating what you want every day. Just not as much of it as you used to. I do allow myself to go over my goal now and then but I still log everything and try to maintain at least a small deficit.

Kinda depends on how crazy you get on your off-day. You're slowing your progress that way, why not save up those special days for once every month or something.

There are plenty of people who track their calories weekly.

Now if you're talking about one day a week on which you don't track, no, that's not a good idea. You could wipe out your deficit that way. But if you track, one high calorie day a week isn't a problem in terms of weight loss. It doesn't work for some, usually because they find it hard to get back on track. If you are one of those people, then it might not work for you, but so long as your deficit's in check, weight loss will happen.

If you work out hard the other days and including the day you plan as a fun day, then yes you can. I do it every week. Saturday is my fun day. I push myself hard Monday-Saturday. After my workout on Saturday, which can consist of 45 mins resistance and an hour and 15 mins of kickboxing. I do eat what I want on Saturday. I don't work out on Sunday, unless I'm lifting with my trainer. And Sunday I'm back on my regular eating schedule.

If you don't have a fun day, what's the point! Most people I know, get burnt out if they don't reward themselves. I'm not saying eat the entire bakery case! Eat what you are missing most, or craving at that point.
