Appetite suppressants

So I've been thinking about trying to find something that will suppress my appetite and would like some recommendations . I started Paxil about a month and a half ago which is kind of notorious for increased appetite and weight gain plus I am a comfort eater with a lot of current stresses in my life so between the two I'm kinda losing the battle here.

I am of course going to they gym almost every day and doing C25K 3x a week and Yoga 2x a week so I'm not looking for some magic pill to make me lose weight I just need something to help me. I'd ask my doctor for a Rx for one but the one that they will give me (don't remember the name, starts with a P) is not compatible with breastfeeding and I'm not sure how it would interact with Paxil. I have seen people talk about taking Apple Cider Vinegar to help control cravings (something about balancing sugars I think?) and what have you but I'm not sure how helpful it will be so hit me with your best suggestions, preferably natural things that won't interact with medications.

I take Adderall for ADD, and that really helped at the beginning, but then it goes away as your body adjusts.
    So, short term, yes...long term...no.
Plus it's a stimulant, so unless you need it like I do, it can have so not so nice side affects.

I sometimes have to work long shifts with no chance of a break to snack so I pop fiber gummies with lots of water to help me get thru when I am starving with hours to go before a snack, and gum.

Try eating vegetables. They fill you up and keep you sated. You have a lot of processed food (and a LOT of bread) in your diary, and no veggies or fruits.

and what happens when your body builds a tolerance to the suppressant, or what happens when you stop taking them?? Do it naturally!! my last diet i lost 30pounds with appetite suppressants, and then when my body got use to them i felt like i was starving all the time, even when i doubled the amount i was taking, and then after a couple weeks stopped taking them since they stopped working and then of course gained everything back, plus 35lbs i had never had before.. not worth it!!

The thing that I use to help me keep my appetite in check while at work isn't suitable for breastfeeding :( It works for me, but it wouldn't be good for you given your situation.

I can totally sympathize though. I am a stress & comfort eater. Just a few weeks ago, I went shopping & got a new outfit. On the drive home, I realized how much I spent and felt awful. Did I suck it up and tell myself that I'm worth the money? Nope. I swung into Chick-Fil-A and got an order of waffle fries, sat in the parking lot, and felt sorry for myself while eating them. Laaaaaaame.

I hope that you can find a natural way to keep your appetite in check. Have you considered carrying mints with you? I've found that if my mouth feels clean/minty, then I'm less likely to eat.

The best appetite suppressant I have found
is exercise, if I get the munchies I find that
a quick walk or mini jog does wonders, may not be
for everyone but it really helps me

Hah no I defiantly don't want to take Adderall, I have ADD too and was on Ritalin as a child which kinda zombied me.

Oh thats a good idea, I know fiber is meant to make you feel fuller for longer I never thought about that. I usually tend to drink around a gallon of water a day :)

Yup I do lately, its kinda what I flock to when I'm stressed/comfort eating without thinking about it but I still have to log it. Even when I'm eating veggies and fruits I just feel like I'm starving and need to eat more. I can't wait till the garden outside starts producing so I can just walk outside and get that instead!

i only looked at yesterday in your diary; you were way over sodium, and then for breakfast had pizza and pancakes--bread items, and then later on had french bread and regular bread in the same meal, etc... bread doesnt fill me at all... pizza i could have 4 pieces and feel starving still.. also sodium makes your more hungry as well, some companies put in extra sodium just so youll eat more and buy more of their product...

to get a low sodium diet, you need to eat cleaner; more lean meats, fruits/veggies, nuts, peanut butter, more complex carbs; higher fiber breads instead of white breads/flours that are unsatisfying, complex carbs. this will in turn not only lower you sodium, but it will also make you more satisfied and full.

Celery. Drink lots of water. Drink lots of brewed green tea, its a natural appetite supressant (not the stuff that comes in cans, its terrible for you). Chew gum. Make sure that when you're eating, its high fiber, high protein, nutrient dense foods that will carry you through to the next meal.

Yup thats exactly what I do and its terrible. I'm trying to unlearn it but its something I've been doing for a very long time now so its going to take some time. I'll see about the mints though because I know what you mean, after I brush my teeth I don't want to eat anything at all lol

unless tea is decaf, then anything with caffeine depletes water in your system...and cant add any sugar/fake sugar to it to make it taste better or else it cant count towards your water intake for the day..

I can eat pizza till I'm blue in the face so I know what you mean there, that bread with the french bread wasn't meant to be there I forgot to remove it after I added the sandwich to my meals so I could just use it in the future because the honey wheat is normally how I eat those not the french bread it just happened to be in the house and I decided to use it as the bread instead.

I defiantly tend to flock more to bread, salt and sugar when I'm stressed, its something I'm trying to work on but as you see not every day is a good day but will defiantly keep this advice in mind thank you.

I never count anything but water to my water count for the day, everything else gets thrown into the diary though idon't often drink anything else as I actually carry a liter water bottle with me at all times with filtered tap water.

This is true, I should get up and move when I feel like munching. Now that I'm thinking about it I know there have been times where I've gone to the gym hungry and not been hungry after getting out.

i find that protein keeps me feeling full.
i start with day with a shake, b/c i am busy and not a big morning eater.

i will sometimes take spirulina capsules or fibre capsules when i am at work and want to eat the whole time.
most of the time, i go with spirulina.

I disagree. Tea is water that has some things added to it. Those things disburse into the water. The base doesn't stop being water. For example, suppose you drink 16oz of water. Then suppose you empty the contents of a tea bag into a dish, and chowed down on them. Would you count the water then? Even though that water and the tea leaves will be mixing in your belly?

    I count it.

As for caffeine being a diuretic, its unclear whether or not that's true.

    Quote:
The Institute of Medicine recommends that "unless additional evidence becomes available indicating cumulative total water deficits in individuals with habitual intakes of significant amounts of caffeine, caffeinated beverages appear to contribute to the daily total water intake similar to that contributed by noncaffeinated beverages."

So there are no pills you should be taking that are appetite supressants while BreastFeeding. Phentermine is more then likely what you discussed with your Dr. And when no-longer breastfeeding that is an excellent option if you are still having control issues (yes I know I will be hated on any minute for saying that, you can message me or look up any phentermine post for my story)

Natural ways are increased protein and fiber while decreasing simple (processed) sugar and sodium. If you arent already tracking sodium, TRACK IT! MFP allows 2500 (government standard) most women dont need more then 1500. Sodium causes fluid retention and bloat (especially in the belly). Everyone will tell you different things on the water forefront, if you add sugar just log the sugar you do add (I personally dont like tea) crystal light and Mi0 are good options as well. Gum helps unless you have TMJ issues then it hurts your Jaw. Apples are great, your boddy needs the chewing motion to trigger your brain that you are eating which sets it off to sense fullness, so if youve eaten a proper portioned meal and are still hungry try and apple (which also contains fiber and helps keep you regular)

All natural - guaranteed no side effects: when you're hungry or thinking of eating something that won't nourish your body, simply grab one or more of your "Michelin Man" rolls with both hands and gently squeeze while jiggling them up and down. Now of course, this only works if you have "Michelin Man" rolls (I do), but it's been a fool-proof deterrant for me many times! (Seriously!)
