I am doing super well on my weight loss. Could not be happier. I've posted before, but just to reiterate, I am 50, down 30+, less than 9 pounds to go for goal weight of 145 pounds.
I recently posted a progress picture. I think the difference is amazing. My mom keeps telling me if I lose more weight my face will look awful and old. I still have belly fat to lose and keep telling her that the weight I continue to lose will just be fat, in areas that I am still fat. My face should not change much at this point because I don't really have fat there to lose. Am I correct in this?

You never really know where the weight is going to come off. You look great in your picture, and hopefully the last 9 pounds will come off where you want them to, but you might lose a little more in your face. Tell mom to mind her own, and lose the weight. You won't know till you do and she should be proud of your accomplishments instead of warning you of what might happen.2

It's not up to your mom. Feel good about your progress.
You will know when you lost enough weight.

Agreed. It's not up to your mother. Do this for you!
I'm younger (28) but I will say this- at my current weight (130) and 5'4.5, my face is a bit slim. I have more squarish(?) face. Pretty strong jaw line and such. Going from 140 to 130 made a significant difference in my body which I'm happy with. My face does look a bit "older" because I did lose a bit from my face in that last bit. But that's because, I think, my genetics and my face structure. It's a give and take though! If you do lose a bit more weight in your face from those last few pounds and you're not happy with it, you can just gain a few pounds back! Evaluate as you go! You'll be fine.
Congrats on the weight loss! That's fantastic!0 -
You look great. Keep doing whatever you are doing. If you feel good then that is all that counts. Hug your mom, but tell her that you know what you are doing!0

My mom keeps telling me if I lose more weight my face will look awful and old.
I've been told this twice by two different people ... once almost a year ago after I'd lost about 15 kg ... and again just a few weeks ago.
Oddly, on the occasions when people have guessed my age, they guess quite a bit younger than I am. So I'm guessing I mustn't look that old after all.
I don't know why people feel they need to say that ... maybe it's true for some people but definitely not for everyone.
Keep up the good work!

the only reason some people see this is because now the wrinkles on your face are no longer filled in with fat. Believe me, this is a good problem to have, because it means that you're losing weight.
Do this for you. If you want to continue losing weight until you're satisfied, DO IT! If you think what she's saying is true (and not just jealousy) there are SO many options you have including: laser therapy, botox, dermal fillers, etc.0 -

With 9 lbs to go and not much fat on your face I wouldn't think there would be much change there either at this point.
It is your body and face. You seem pretty happy with your changes.0 -
While you are losing weight you look a little different... once your skin adjusts you'll look less "sickly" to other people. Sounds like you're doing great - she just has to get used to the "new" you!
(and she soon will)
