Healthy food options?
Ok so I am on day 5 of eating plain greek yogurt 0 fat with fresh fruit and stevia for sweetening and I think I can now manage this one...What are some other suggestions for healthy foods I can substitute into my diet for a healthier body? I HATE HATE HATE fish and am pretty sure I can not force myself to eat that in the name of health...so thats my only no go.....suggestions please

fresh vegetables? spaghetti squash was awesome for me. Maybe my pasta craving is all about the sauce and cheese, but some spaghetti squash, cooked and topped with some pasta sauce and a sprinkle of shredded parmesan makes me very happy. And much easier on my counter than spaghetti with sauce and cheese.0

I love avocados as a substitute for mayo. I crush half an avocado and smear it on bread with my sandwiches. It is delicious. I just have to be careful because they are high in calories. I've also made the switch to whole wheat pasta. The texture is a bit different, but you get used to it. I swapped regular potatoes for sweet potatoes. So far I've made mashed sweet potatoes and sweet potato fries. Super yummy and low in calories per serving. Another one I'm just learning about is quinoa. I have only had it cooked by it self and am starting to add veggies, etc to it. Kale is another one of my favorite foods. I just toss it in a pan with cubed avocado, minced garlic and onions and it makes a nice side dish at lunch.0

I eat lean meats.....chicken, turkey, beef (occasionally), cottage cheese, string cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables. Reduced-fat peanut butter on reduced-fat vanilla wafers, Skinny Cow ice cream treats, nuts and Laughing Cow cheese.....pretty much anything in moderation as long as it isn't high in salt and fat. :flowerforyou:0

Oatmeal, raw veggies dipped in hummus, fruit, salsa on salad instead of dressing, laughing cow cheese wedges instead of cream cheese on a bagel, sweet potato fries, etc.0

If you start out with I hate, hate, hate. You are never going to be healthy, healthy, healthy....
You are a big girl now and need to eat a healthy balanced diet for you and your family. Educate yourself and read lables.
There are tons of sites with healthy recipes online, just google healthy recipes. I'm sure you could find things you all will like. No excusses.0 -
I eat 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg with olive oil and Mrs. Dash seasoning.
I eat 3 snacks a day and usually 2 out of the 3 I have a Jillian Michaels Triple Chocolate Protein Shake and then I have almonds and craisins, cashews and light string cheese, or light string cheese and a cup of fruit.
For my meals I have chicken breast and california blend veggies or a salad with light dressing. A Extra Lean turkey burger with veggies or something like that I really don't like fish either mainly because of the texture so there is NO way I can eat it for my health I would be throwing it up as soon as I put it in my mouth.
Substitute lean turkey in where you would usually use red meat; turkey tacos, turkey meat loaf or half lean red meat and half lean turkey meat loaf, turkey joes, I have a great fetta stuffed chicken recipe. It is a lot of trial and error with substituting...turkey brauts are awesome, they are healthier than regular brauts but not as bad for you incase you are craving them its a good substitute!!
Also instead of regular buns get the 100 calorie or 90 calorie buns it can cut about half the calories from you bread intake.
Bananas are one of the highest in sugar and calories so try to stick with strawberries, grapes, kiwi, and apples.
Good luck!0 -

MMMM I absolutelly love avacados they are like green chocolate so I have to be careful when I eat them. I often put them on burgers instead of mayo. I have switched to whole wheet pasta also. I cant eat potatoes they hurt my tummy but I do like sweet potatoes, are they healthier that regular potatoes? Quinoa is supposed to be great for you....thanks for reminding me I have to look into incorporating that into my diet for sure. Kale thats kinda like letuce right? thanks for the suggestions0 -
salsa on salad instead of dressing
I love salsa and especially fresh salsa I wonder if it is really fitting for salad though I will try this for sure. I am going to be incorporating my greens into my diet for sure0 -

My husband just bought some ground turkey to make some turkey burgers and I was thinking of substituting our ground beef with the turkey already thats awesome. Bananas are not my favorite fruit but good to know about the sugar as I eat them once in a while. I love my berries though and eat tons of fruit to get a handle on my sweet tooth. Yum Kiwi's havent had one of those in a while...thanks0 -

I've taken to changing up my unhealthy loves for healthier versions,
Meatless hamburger (Yves is my choice) some taco seasoning, a good low fat or soy cheese and lettuce = tacos....a 100 calorie taco...
Battered deep fried fish turned into panko coated oven cooked shrimp.
I've replaced butter with this fantastic Earthworks buttery spread.
So take what you DO love and work with it.0
