Anyone else gain weight when initially starting a diet/workout plan. I have worked out three times this week and logged 5 days in a row doing pretty close to my calorie goal and I still gained 2 pounds. I measure my weight at the same time of day (evening) I'm not giving up, it just seems not right

Maybe it would be better if you weigh yourself in the morning before you eat or drink anything. You may have added weight throughout the day of eating and drinking and that can skew your weight. Unless you are weighing yourself fasted in the evening, your weight won't be accurate.4

It's water gain from muscle repair. Keep going, it will even out.
Weight loss is not linear.1 -
evening is a horrible time to weigh yourself. You have the weight of the food you ate, the water you drank etc. Morning after you have done your business is going to be most consistent.3

Weight fluctuations are normal. Weigh in the morning same time and no more than once a week.3

i have this problem too. Especially right now, ive been very consistent in dieting and working out for the last two weeks with pretty high deficit and im 2 lbs heavier. I know it has to be water weight, i have been doing pretty physical workouts and the muscles do retain water when they need to repair/recover. When they are done repairing and recovering your body will get rid of the extra water, trust me its very discouraging but you have to be patient.1

Weigh always first thing in the morning after you go to the bathroom. That will give you the most "unbiased" weight. All day long you've eaten and drank and done things and your body is organic and reacts to all those things. You'll be often frustrated if you weigh at the end of the day.1
