Drinking on the weekends

Hi everyone! I'm 19 and go to university in Scotland (where the legal drinking age is 18). The friends I have are all quite social drinkers and now that exams are over and the sun is out it's becoming even more common than before. I usually do quite well when it comes to counting calories and controlling what I eat but then at the weekends it all goes wrong and I end up drinking so many calories away. Anybody have any tips other than to quit drinking?

Count your drinks and drink water in between rounds. Treat it as a game to see if you can be the lone sober (or at least the least drunk) person by the end of the night. If you can learn moderation now you can potentially save yourself some trouble down the road.

Eat light during the week, save some calories for the weekend.

I agree with @sunnybeaches105. Moderation. Also, if you KNOW there is going to be a heavy weekend of drinking coming up, do extra workout/exercises so you can have a little indulgence.

I drink beer almost everyday and have been at my maintenance weight for a year. Beer and wine, not too much, FTW!

for me it's the mixers and chasers as well, those can add up when drinking heavily.

Also the post drunkenness meals. I don't make good decisions in that state.

I tend to try to lower cals during the week when I know I'll be going out.

My mainstay is a rum or whiskey and coke, so my calories tend to add up fast. I agree with spacing out a round with water. You get to stay sober longer and drink less (also cheaper). Saving up calories for the drinking works too!
