In my home weekend breakfast in a must!
My husband and son enjoy a full breakfast on the weekends. This includes bacon, grits, eggs, biscuits, etc...
These things are not the healthiest but do taste good. I dread cooking because I want to eat this stuff. Any substitutions? Help I really want to become healthier...

We also cook tasty foods on Sundays for breakfast. I just eat the proper portions of those foods to stay within my calorie goals. I adjust the rest of my days foods so I can fit in the larger breakfast without going over. For me, it was important to incorporate the foods that I love into my daily life. I found that depriving myself of Delicious foods was a set up for failure. In order for me to be successful, I had to learn how to work these types of foods in by learning moderation and portion control. Its about Moderation not deprivation. So there's no need to substitute the foods you like, just learn how to incorporate them into your diet.2

That's my typical breakfast on the weekends. If you don't want to eat what they're eating, make yourself something different. I've sometimes made myself an omelet or wrap when I'm not as hungry or planning on a big dinner.
My breakfast this morning was 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, slice of toast and 2 hashbrowns. Clocked in at just under 500 calories. Since it's so filling, I will probably have a light lunch as I doubt I'll be very hungry.
And who says that stuff isn't healthy? Eggs are very good for you. Eggs and bacon have a good amount of protein (I oven bake my bacon so they aren't as greasy), never liked grits much but love hashbrowns. The two I had this morning were only 56calories.2 -
Agree with capaul42. If you're eating that big of a breakfast, lunch kind of becomes a non issue. Just go light or skip. Then a sensible dinner! Problem solved!1

There are tons of healthy breakfast alternatives you can work in! Veggie omelets, turkey sausage/bacon, whole wheat banana pancakes, Greek yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit and crushed graham crackers - check out pinterest for recipes and ideas1

Agreed. I would enjoy a nice breakfast with the family on the weekend and just have a lighter lunch.

Its always been hard for me to prepare a nice low calaroie breakfast. I seem to never have time. Sometimes I end of doing two hard boiled eggs or a banana protein smoothie.1

Agreed with just skipping lunch.
Or pick the things you really want from all that stuff. I mean, some days I crave bacon, some days I want hashbrowns, some days I want a biscuit... you don't have to eat all the things.0 -
Look up recipe for egg muffins. You basically just bake eggs with cheese, meat, veggies, etc. in an egg pan. You can eat those as a main dish and they can be as healthy as u choose to make them. Have a small amount of grits or toast and log it if u want the other stuff. Or try banana pancakes or other healthier options for ur favorite breakfast dishes. Pinterest rocks for this!0

Banana pancakes do the trick for me! Half a medium banana, 1 egg, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp cinnamon. They are yummy by themselves or topped with fruit and/or honey. I also like turkey bacon.0

Skip a meal or drastically size down portions so you can have a little bit of all your favorites.0

What kind of bacon are you using? I went to Cracker Barrel with my husband. It was difficult but I won! One pancake and1/2 biscuit instead of by usual 3 (EACH!). I typically have a fiber one bar during the week for breakfast but it leaves me hungry for lunch so I may need to rethink that.0
