Hypothyroid messing with weight

Hi!
I'm 23 and while I used to be underweight before I suddenly put on 12 kilos and realised i have hypothyroidism. I have been bloated for about 4 years now. No matter what I do - diet, exercise, Thyroid supplements - nothing seems to bring my weight down. I'm freaking out because I put on a kilo every couple of months even when I'm desperately trying to lose.
Has anyone else experienced this? Even my fitness trainer was stumped.

This very app told me that going by my lifestyle, I should have lost 4 kilos - 3 and a half months ago.0 -

Not all the time. I just go by weight markings.0 -
You say you're taking thyroid supplements. What is your doctor saying about your thyroid? Most people with hypothyroidism can control it with medicine, and if not, it's a sign of needing surgery.
Also, what is your fitness setting on MFP and are you eating back exercise calories?0 -

My Doctor says my THS levels aren't a massive dip. Even my dosage of Eltroxin (The supplement I've been prescribed) is a low average. But weight loss is becoming impossible. I am very bloated and I have a classic thyroid moon chin which makes me want to wear a paper bag over my head because that's where the weight gain is most visible.
I do NOT eat exercise calories.0 -

Hi idk if my message sent but here goes again I discovered I had the same tyroid issues around age 25 for yrs struggled about 4months ago I eliminated carbs, oils, and sugars. It is strict but I've dropped 30lbs I go 2 gymn or walk 2-3 days a week. Diet consist of fruits (apples, oranges, grapefruit, melons and berries). Veggies any except potatoes, and proteins I limit pork. It's strict but I needed a radical change I refused 2 hit 40 and continue 2be over 200lbs. It's extreme but works my Dr. Agreed with my plan and I log all my food n work outs so he can review. Add me if you want more tips1

I hope by supplements you mean levothyroxine, prescribed and regularly adjusted by your dr, right? If your thyroid is under control, it is highly unlikely it is to blame for your weight gain. Because of your age, it sounds more like a combination of getting past adolescence (and no longer growing) plus lifestyle changes.0 -
I also struggled with same issues for years I am now taking some supplements eating med/high protein and low carb. I am down 70 lbs and 56 inches since April 2013. Add me as a friend if you would like1

Hi guys. I'm happy to report that I have STOPPED taking Eltroxin and I'm trying meal scheduling and exercise and I HAVE managed to drop a kilo. Which is not much but its progress.0
