Don't keep things in the house that you are likely to binge on. Go shopping with someone else, a friend or partner, so that you can't buy the things to binge on. Stay away from binging and it does get easier after the first few days. Willpower is the key. You just have to say NO. I have been there so I know it is difficult but I cured myself by taking others to the supermarket with me. I would be too ashamed to buy the stuff I binged on.

I dont trust myself around junk food and that's why i dont buy it. The "ill just eat one cookie a day" narrative is a lie that i used to tell myself. Now i only buy small portions when im craving them coz if a box of cookies made its way to my table it wont stay on it for long

Yeh I don't understand people who can just have a bite and then that's it. No way ! It would have to be the lot. I put aside 1 night a week where I can eat my junk and then work hard in the gym and clean eating all week.
It does get easier. It is hard though. Distract yourself. Go for a walk when u feel a binge

Get tougher with yourself. Tell yourself the truth, if you over eat you gain weight. You have to make yourself see the consequence of what you are eating.

Log your binges. This is what I've done, and it really helps reality set in.

You have to figure out why you binged though. Have you been restricting your calories too much, or have you cut out a lot of foods? For me, I have a moderate to small deficit and eat my favourite foods (as well as nutritious foods to make sure I hit my protien and fat macros), and these help me minimize bingeing. Logging and weighing foods really put this into perspective for me.

I struggle with binge eating too. It's hard but I think avoiding junk food is the best way to start.

I'm in recovery for an eating disorder and still struggle with binges occasionally. Will power isn't enough for some of us. I got therapy and have also done (continue to do) work from the EDA workbook to help me work on a healthier relationship with food.

I'm one of the people who end up binging when I restrict too much. If I have a square of chocolate with my coffee, I'll be less likely to down 300 calories of chocolate the next time I have chocolate in my hands.

And yeah... I log it all. And I still keep a deficit to make up for those days (because it happens once a week maybe).

Been maintaining for 2 years that way.

Identify your trigger foods and/or activities. I have struggled with binge eating my entire life and know that some activities like watching Netflix or going out for Mexican food make me want to binge like crazy. Cut those things out where u can and make new habits and try new hobbies that don't center around food. If night time is hard to resist overeating like it is for me, trying distracting yourself in the evening by activities. Also, u might want to check out OVereaters Anonymous. I have gone a few times and it has a good message. It isn't everyone's thing but worth a try.

^^^ This! If you are trying to keep your calories too low, or have a long list of foods that you "shouldn't" eat, this will increase the likelihood of overeating.

I know for me anxiety/stress and my binge eating were closely tied. I wouldn't underestimate the effect they can have on you, and would recommend seeking some support if you think it may be part of your situation.

Don't keep foods that you binge on around, keep apples/cucumbers/berries close by and cut up:). To go off of what someone mentioned about grocery shopping-go only when you are full, and if possible go in the AM. I've read that willpower is strongest in the morning and decreases as the day progresses. AM is also easier because you can have a healthy, delicious breakfast and go in satisfied with life :)
