I see the ladies have started a bunch of threads asking for opinions on weight goals. So I'm doing the same with the guys.
I'm 5' 7" and I was once 180 lbs where people actually called me skinny. My BMI says I should below 160 to be in the healthy range.
I just don't know if that is a realistic goal for me.

Any 5' 7" (+/- 2") guys out that have reached your goal would you mind sharing pics of your goal weight.

Thanks

I'm 5'7". I started out somewhere around 185-195. I'm currently in "maintenance", fluctuating between 146-149. I never though I would get under 160, much less 150. It's weird.

Hi! my hubby is 5' 7.5" and is VERY fit at 178-180..I'm sure it depends on bone structure and muscle mas, but I'd say 160 is too skinny for most guys at that hight unless they were a more slight build..good luck!! :o)

BMI is BS. You could be built like a bodybuilder and your BMI will say you're obese. They don't take athletes or muscular people into account at all. Bodyfat % is the most important number.

    Just one "lady's" opinion...

I wouldn't pay much attention to BMI. I'm 5'6" and there's no way I can get to what would be "healthy" for me according to BMI, because I'm a heavy muscle dense bone guy. I'm right around 235 - 240 right now, and my current goal is to get to 200 and see how I look and feel. I would suggest going about it that way yourself. Figure out where you think you'd like to get to and then reassess from there.

An alternate, and better, way to look at things is through your body fat percentage. If you can get to somewhere around 10%, you'll be more or less ripped. Around 15%, you'll be fit. Around 20%, you'll be "healthy". The actual scale on the weight is somewhat meaningless.

Thanks taso42, I guess 10% is relative to total body mass which makes it a pretty good universal indicator. Now, how do you find out the body fat %. I know those scales that do it don't work very well.
