Any women with PCOS find success with mfp?

I seem to only lose 3-4 pounds 1 week out of the month. My period! I struggle all month and it's very discouraging. I think I'm eating the right amount of calories to lose weight but I must be wrong. I lost weight with weight watchers every week when I was tracking but I can't afford it. I'd like to use my fitness pal since it's free and easier to use.

Open your diary to the public.
People will help you find mistakes.
Plus, for me, it holds me a bit accountable.
A food scale makes this place rock. Walmart and Target have some.0 -
I have lost 20 pounds so far, but not as fast as I wanted. With PCOS, I am happy with any loss. Like JanetYellen said, get a scale. It is important to weigh your food. Measuring instruments differ and are so off. Personally, I do not do anything like low carb. I do not think it is reasonable to my life in the long run, so I am doing what I can sustain for the long run.0

@Dandelie have you been tracking and staying within your calorie range still finding it difficult to lose weight steadily?0

Yes!! I have pcos and have lost 21lb so far with 55 to go. I use a food scale and weigh all my food so I have an accurate count of calories in. I don't eat more than 50% of my exercise calories back.
I think losing a few lb the week after your period is common, that's the way it's happened with me. Occasionally I'll lose a pound but I have seen more consistently a 4 ish lb drop the week after my period. Remember that weight loss is not linear, so some weeks you may not lose at all and other weeks you may lose a few pounds. If you are losing 4lb a month, no matter what week it happens, then you are on track with a 1lb per week loss.1 -
Has anyone heard of paleo diet for PCOS or low carb. I was eating vegan with a lot of brown rice and beans and was never satisfied. I found myself reaching for more food. I hear paleo is best for PCOS symptoms.1

I recently started following Trim Healthy Mama. There are tons of women on there with great sucess stories. I personally don't have it, but I wanted to share that with you. They have many facebook groups you could join to get the feel of it before deciding to order the book(s). I have lost 15 lbs in a few weeks and I have only been following the plan about 60%1

I was trying to get pregnant with my 2nd child for about 2.5 years with no luck. I was overweight and my brother told me why dont you get on paleo and i bet you will lose the weight and get pregnant. After being on paleo for 2 months and 25 lbs down I got pregnant. I also stop having migranes. So paleo has done wonders for me. Btw I also have pcos!0

It's possible, I personally haven't done any research regarding the effects of a paleo lifestyle on pcos. But I went paleo a few years ago, and I haaaaaated it. I found it very stifling and unsustainable for me.
At any rate, try it out, see if you like it.0 -
I am 23 and have pcos. I cut out flour and sugar.out of my diet. Was hard the first week but after a week the cravings get easier. I lost 60 pounds when I was on the diet. And it was easy to keep off. I'm starting the diet over tomorrow . Had a rough past year and drifted.off from it.0

I'm 22.
5ft 2in.
PCOS.
Started at 262, am now at 180. Within two years.
Didn't cut any foods out purposefully.
It's not the easiest, but I managed to work around it. Being short, so heavy, and having PCOS. -le sighs-
I do own a food scale and weigh most of my food and drinks. It isn't a waste of time, it doesn't even take up that much time at all. It's quite an eye opener. Losing weight is kind of fun for me now, but I'm kind of a data freak.
It's possible, make small changes. Lifestyle changes, not just temporary ones.1
