Is it worth getting a personal trainer?

Hi everyone - I am 33 years old and about 25-30 lbs over my ideal/goal weight. I find it very hard to stick with my goals when it comes to diet and going to the gym. I have never used a personal trainer but I would like to know if it's worth it from peoples experiences. If so, where is the best place to find one? Is there an app for that? Like an Uber for personal trainers?
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone!

Actually, yes, you get so much more working out with a personal trainer. I have used one for a few years often on. But make sure they're certified in personal training or it's not worth it. Educated and certified personal trainers are awesome.2

Thank you so much!
How did you find your trainer? I found this app on the app store where you can message trainers and decide when/where to workout; it's called LokaTrain. But I don't see many trainers here in Dallas where I am:( (changed my location to NYC and they have a ton of trainers and cheap group workouts; lucky them!).0 -
Many gyms will allow you to pay for personal training without joining a gym. It's important however to make sure that you pick a trainer who's experienced. I've been doing it for almost 20 years and have the highest client count in my gym due to it. I have a good mixture of young and old, athletic and not and obese as well as those trying to gain weight. If they are certified through a major organization (like ACE) their profile should be available to view on that site.

Yes! I've had a personal trainer before and the results were a lot better when I had one versus to when I didn't.1

The right personal trainer will help kick start your use of the weight room. Proper technique and developing routines and sequences. And ensuring you don't hurt yourself by doing too much too soon.
And good personal trainer are going to yell at you or berate you like one can see on Biggest Loser.1 -

Really really appreciate everyone's feedback! I actually have a gym in my building.
Is there any other app where I can contact trainers other than LokaTrain? I only see two trainers in Dallas on LokaTrain; will contact them to see if they are a good fit but was just wondering if anyone knew of any other app. Thanks again!!0 -
Disagree. There's no need to yell to provide encouragement or inspire them to do better. And berating may work for some, but to use it as a form of motivation usually isn't conducive to creating a self confidence in someone who lacks it. You attract more bees with honey than vinegar.

You sound like a great trainer. Not some guy with a diploma earned over a 6 week course.0
