I am 21 years old, 145 pounds and 5 ft. My goal is to be 125. I have been eating no more then 1200 calories a day for 35 days now. I have been eating healthier , cut out soda, and junk food. I have 1 cheat day a week but never go over calories too much. I was lightly active but for a week now I have been walking+jogging 2 miles . I plan on doing this 4 to 5 times a week. My question is why have I only lost 1 pound? It is very discouraging and I am wondering when will I finally lose more or notice a difference?

How do you know you have been eating 1200 per day: Do you weigh/measure and log everything?0

I log all calories down from everything I eat and drink.1

I measure everything too1

The basic rule that eating at a calorie deficit will over time show results. Each person is different but if you are sticking to what you have outlined, it is surprising that you have not lost more. It is hard not to be demotivated in this instance but knowing that you are eating healthily and taking regular, meaningful exercise should act as motivation in the early days. 35 days sounds like a long time but various factors will affect apparent weight loss.
Peoples bodies react differently but if calories in < calories used you will lose weight. It just takes time and perseverance.
Are you using digital scales? Are they in the same location and on a hard floor? If not, consider a good set of digital scales and locate them on a hard even surface.
Do you weigh yourself at the same time every day? Personally, I tend to weigh myself in the morning before I eat or drink anything. I tend to find that the results are reasonably consistent over time but quite often my scales will show an additional pound or two in weight. This kind of "blip" is usual.
Keep logging accurately. Think about the long-term. You will get there for sure!2 -
Celeste, people who are petite and only 5' tall sometimes have to drop down to 1000 calories in order to go into active weight loss. I know in general that it is best not to go below 1200 but you might not have a big enough deficit. What does MFP recommend for your current height and weight?2

Measure or weigh? There is a great difference between the two. Weighing everything you eat on a food scale is the best way to know you aren't underestimating your intake.3

Personally I would drop the "cheat day" and stay perfectly on plan for a month to see what happens.2

If you're not making progress, then you should tighten up your nutrition. I would drop the "cheat day" and focus on hitting your calorie goal every day. You can still have some of those foods you like, but just fit them into your calorie goal. Also, ramp up the exercise. Light cardio workouts really are not very effective at promoting fat loss. The higher the intensity you can bring to the workouts, the better you'll do. If you like to run, try doing 4-6 rounds of 10-20 second all out sprints. Those are vastly superior for promoting fat loss. Also, working in fast-paced resistance workouts are great too!3

Thank you everyone I will just keep at it and make little tweaks. I hope I see results.0
