Fibre and vitamins not showing for some foods

Does anyone else notice fibre doesn't show up for some things that are actually good sources of fibre and often vitamins don't show?

The database is all user-generated. If someone has added a food, they may have only been concerned about the calorie count and didn't bother to add any other macro/micronutrients in.

You can create your own entries if you are worried.

It's what happens when everyone is allowed to add entries into the database.

Look for USDA entries and double check the entries.

My Fitness shows there is 0 Fiber in apples. Apples are known to be a good fiber source so I question the accuracy of this app which I have used for 8 years.

Once again, as stated above, the database is crowd-sourced. That means that food items are entered by regular MFP users like you and me.

Well, not quite like you and me, because we care about accuracy of the entries we create, right? Some people don't, or don't know how to get accurate information to input.

The solution is to check a food items against an authoritative source (like the USDA Food Central database), and choose an accurate entry, or create our own accurate entry. Once we use an entry, it will stay in our recent/frequent foods, and come up first when we try to add foods to our diary.

In this case, consider the entry "Apples, raw, with skin'. (The default serving size may be cups, but the drop down has other serving size options.)

Often, the true USDA items in the database - which were loaded when MFP started up - have that kind of text description (something only a bureaucrat would love), and a default quantity in cups (but many other options). After a while - I've been here for 7 years - I can usually guess the bureaucratic name often enough to get the USDA entry on my first try.

pick a different entry. There is more than one entry for "apples". You're picking an entry that is incomplete. As has been mentioned numerous times, the database is crowdsourced from other users who may or may not have input all of the nutritional data for a particular entry or completely botched it altogether. You have to vet the entries you are selecting.
