Im off to watch england play cricket on friday with my girlfriend. We normally take a picnic with us which in the past would involve some of the following items:
Italian meats, fresh breads, pork pies to name but a few.

Any healthy alternatives to pick at? All i can think is some king prawns in lemon and chilli or something like that.

Any advise? We are there from 9am until 6pm.

Thanks

Dips with vegetable sticks, wholemeal crackers, wholemeal pita bread.

I love picnics! You could make some roasted vegetable cous cous, some salad and take the dressing in a jam jar so it doesn't go soggy. Some olives with feta cheese or sun dried tomatoes (high fat but lovely in small portions).

Frittata - brown up some veges (cooked sweet potato, raw zuccini, capsicum, mushrooms, red onion, green beans... what ever you fancy really), add some cooked rice or pasta if you eat them, then beat up a bunch of eggs (depending on the size of your pan, I'd usually use 6 or 8) and pour them over the top of the veggies. Let it cook for a few minutes till it looks nearly set, then sprinkle a little bit of grated cheese on top and grill until the top is brown and puffy and the cheese is melted.
It's great cold, and full of yummy goodness!
    Enjoy the cricket!

Have you ever had a look on this site? There are some amazing recipes and I'm sure some would be picnic appropriate, there are some pasta salads and skinny chicken nuggets that might be good for picnic food but I'm sure you'll find some other stuff too! http://www.skinnytaste.com/

Have you tried the new Warburtons thins? They are really yummy and just 100cals for both halves. I get them in Sainsbury's but I believe all the other supermarkets stock them too. Much better than normal bread. You could fill them with grilled chicken, mayo, salad etc, or cut them into slices and use them to dip in salsa, low fat hummus etc with veggie crudites. Twiglets are low cal, low fat too. Fruit is always an option, and a nice big salad.

What about some baked salmon (you could do this the night before), pasta salad with olive oil, cherry tomatos, feta cheese & olives. Quiche is also always good...make it youself to keep it low fat.

My favorites are strawberries, grapes, veggies and dip, watermelon, and chicken, cheese and crackers.
as long as you watch your portion sizes on the things that have more calories, you will be fine.
