I am looking for support in my weight loss journey with others who have lupus. I was over weight a long time ago after I had my 2 children. I lost 70 lbs back in 2001 in approximately a year but I'll say it was definitely not a healthy way to do it. I managed to keep it off for 11 yrs up until about 5 yrs ago. I've slowly gained it back due to medications I was taking for lupus. I had very gradual syptoms lupus as far back as when I was 8yrs old but didn’t know what was going on with my body. Then I was finally diagnosed about a year ago. I was already slowly gaining weight before my diagnosis but medications and the inability to actually move my body some does has really put the weight on fast!! I'm no longer taking prednisone and I've already begun to make smarter choices. My last doc visit I was 231 in early March. Today I'm 217 and looking forward to getting back to a healthy weight of 140 and my body feeling better despite it constantly fighting against itself. Hoping I can connect with others who are fighting this disease and trying to loose the weight in a healthy way :)

Hi I don't have lupus but I have fibromyalgia so I can relate to the pain and the fatigue and the medication doing crazy things to your body. I have gained weight since diagnosis and am starting over again tomorrow. Add me if you think I can help.

HI. I am a newly diagnosed with Lupus and RA. I also have Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Hypothyroid and PCOS.

I am trying to take my life back to get to some normalcy again. I let the pain all over my body just take over.

I am currently on a low dose of Prednisone and have started Leflunomide for the RA and Lupus.

    Hi there
I have lupus. Was diagnosed at 18. I've had 2 children since then
My main issues are finding exercises I can do as my ankle, hips and knees are really in a bad way at the moment. I'd like to do more than just swimming though
Hope you're having a good day

  • They totally DO NOT WORK for me either :( I take celebrex, protonix, lorcet, nu vigil everyday. It does seem to help.

Wow its so nice to not feel alone... I'm 27 and was diagnosed 3 years ago and it has been an insane roller coaster ride every since ..... I was pregnant at the time of my diagnosis and had my daughter 3 months early and since then have lost a baby and have had a stroke and 5 surgeries.... 3 this year already.... So weight has really become a problem for more reasons than one.... But its time to get my life back I've been in the same flare up for 3 years now and feeling like I'm losing control of everything..... I'm so glad to have seen your post and everyone's responses..... Its nice knowing I'm not alone in this no matter how bad it seems to get!!!!

Hello :) I don't have lupus but I have a bunch of other autoimmune conditions and am familiar with prednisolone and steroids. I take prednisolone and florinef (another steroid) and have for the last 4 years since I got sick. I've put on 20kg! But, have lost 5kg in the last 6 weeks. I am looking for friends too, but ones who understand the cyclic nature of these conditions.
