(TMI warning) rectal bleeding during exercise

in the past few weeks i have started walking between 1-2 miles/day and 2x I've experienced rectal bleeding. It's not a whole lot, just enough to stain my underwear and the first swipe of toilet tissue, but it stings when I'm walking and I know even before i get to a bathroom. Now I'm not a doctor person ~ not that I don't like doctors, but with everything going on in life, I don't have the time or the money to see one right now. so please, shy of telling me to see my physician, let me know if you have experienced this and if you have found anything that provides relief from this even if it is temporary. thanks in advance.

Never heard of that happening so it sounds like something that would need physician attention. Unless you are prone to hemrroids? If you are, it could be that you have one and it gets irritated with the walking?0
-
sounds like it might be hemeroids? you could try cool baths & some ointment. See if that helps0
-
Hemorrhoids, like as not. Possibly internal, so they are not obvious until irritated and bleeding.0
-
I know you said don't recommend a doctor but you really need to see one as any rectal bleeding is not normal. It could be a simple case of piles but you really should get it examined to be on the safe side.0
-
I am not a DR. My first thoughts are that you may have either a hemoroid or an anal fischer. (sp ). They can get worse and beyond painful. you may try over the counter preperation h or vaseline. If that doesnt help then I am not sure. Wish I could help morr.0
-
Sounds like hemorrhoids to me. Especially if you have an itch back there and especially when irritated. Try some Prep H and if you don't see or feel any improvement, go see a doctor! If you only have a trace amount of blood on the TP or in your underwear, I'd bet it is hemorrhoids and nothing worse than that.
Hope that helps but I'm not a doctor!0 -
I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but it could be hemorrhoids: http://www.bleedinghemorrhoids.org/0

i do have hemorrhoids (thanks to my last pregnancy) and they can be pretty bad. from the color of the blood i'm pretty sure it is external - it's bright red - and it burns in the shower when the water is directly on it. i will try some ointment. should i apply it before i walk, or just every morning or every evening?0
-
And I'm not recommending any of the products on that page, just providing it for the information about the hemorrhoids themselves.0
-
yup, Sound like hemorrhoids. (fyi, internal hemorrhoids can cause bright red blood too. Trust me, I know from experience )0
-
It may be helpful to use a powder before you exercise. Gold bond is great but it can burn. It may help prevent chaffing.0
-
No matter if the hemorrhoids or internal or external, there will be red blood.0

i had the same problem as far as the rectal bleeding. I ignored it for about 8-9 months because I couldn't see/feel any hemmerhoids. I wasn't working out, it was just everyday life. turns out i had 3 that were internal, so I saw a doctor and he got those taken care of for me. after they were taken care of, i still had bleeding. turns out i had a stage 4 malignant polyup in my colon that needed removed. After the biopsy of the polyup, my dr told me that they found pre-cancer cells in it. Had I waited 3-5 more months and it would have been cancer. My advice? See a physician asap!!0

I am a doctor. Diagnosis CANNOT be made with the information you give. Could it be hemorrhoids? Yes. Could it be cancer? Yes. Could it be polyps, inflammatory bowel disease or a host of other things yes. See a doctor and get an exam, probably need a colonoscopy. Not sure of your age but I have seen young people get colon cancer. Asking people on an internet forum to reassure you regarding an issue like this is just not wise.0

Um... I'm not a doctor, but if a doctor chimes in and says to go see a doctor, I'd go see a doctor !!!!! NEVER mess with your health !!!0

I'm 38 with no history of any cancer, colon, rectal or otherwise. However I will consider making an appointment sometime this summer.I am a doctor. I agree rectal fissure or hemmoroides internal or external, see your phamacist for a cream if no change after 1wk of usage, consult.
however if you have abdominal pains, you need to consult asap
if you take a no.2 and just blood or black stool you also need to consult asap
you need to breath better in your work-out and not block you breathing when lifting, this is called the valsalva and will contribute to bad circulation in that area and cause hemmies.
Also suggest lukewarm baths 3x/day
best luck to you
I'm a nurse so it's the best advice I can offer0 -

you don't need a history of cancer in order to get it. i'm NOT saying you have it, but it's only ruled out after a doctor gives you a colonoscopy and rules it out. i was found with mine at only being 19 ... so it really can come at any age... old or young. please keep your health in perspective. as someone who is (stupidly) stubborn about making doctors appointments. Yet now, I realize that there's no such thing as a nonsense reason to go in. Better safe than sorry my friend!0 -
I understand doctors are expensive but your health is important and random rectal bleeding isn't exactly normal! O_O It could be only a hemorrhoid or anal fissure (probably from straining too hard when going to the bathroom), or it could be a bit of blood from chafing during exercise maybe? But it also could be something serious, and I wouldn't play around with my health like that. Just remember you can always earn more money or make more time, but if you only get one body and one life. Take care of it while you can.0

Sounds like you could either have hemmorhoids or a fissure. Fissues hurt like H E double toothpicks. The first thing you need to do is make sure you don't make it worse, give it a chance to heal, and prevent others from forming. GROUND psyllium fibre every day, along with some Omega 3 oil. 1 heaping tablespoonful with 1 scoop whey protein powder, 2 tsp omega 3 oil, cold water, mix quick and drink quick. I have IBS and that's how I start every single day. I won't lie. It's nasty, but it's SO worth it.
Next, treat the symptoms. One of the best ointments out there is one I get in chinatown called Mayinglong Hemmorhoids Ointment. After every BM, at night and before your walk. Honestly, it's the only thing that's given me any relief.
Always have unscented, flushable baby wipes in the bathroom...keep it clean, but don't overdo it.
SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Get a colonoscopy. Also totally worth it. Not the most pleasant exam, but I had a polyp removed with my first one that could have developed into something a lot worse. Totally worth the hassle. Looking forward to having one every year for the rest of my life. Oh joy.
Good luck!

If you're having rectal bleeding with your bowel movements after straining that is external bleeding from anal fissures or hemorrhoids and you need to drink a ton of water and increase your fiber (eating high fiber without drinking a lot of water will cause problems like this) and this should resolve the problem in fairly short order.
If you have ANY concern that the bleeding is internal and not external you MUST see a doc regardless of the cost. Ignoring internal bleeding can have serious consequences.
Thorough, informative, compassionate. My favorite kind of forum posts! Wonderful advice...0 -

Are you near a Planned Parenthood? Because they'll see you, and they'll do it on a sliding scale based upon ability to pay. Odds are, you've just got a hemorrhoid or badly irritated skin from sensitivity to the paper you use or the enthusiasm with which you wipe. However, I really do recommend just one visit to the doc to rule out the unlikely (but possible) conditions that could be something worse. In the mean time, try a wet-wipe type product and perhaps some Preperation-H or Tucks. A&D Ointment might help, but remember it's for external use only. Soaking in a salt or baking soda bath can be soothing, and make sure you're always dry and clean down there.

Sometimes it could be extreme chaffing, especially if it's only right after or during exercise. See a doc, but... I unfortunately know this can happen.0
-
I agree is sounds most likely hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, but could very well be worse and see your doctor. For comic relief, you should rent or download "A Threevening with Keven Smith," and listen to him tell the anal fissure story. Along with being hilarious, it also outlines why exactly you should go to your doc asap.0
