Okay. So dieting on your period. This has to be one of the worse experiences I've ever had. How do you guys keeps things in check as far as cravings and etc??

For me, the thought that I know if I stuck to my calories I'll be rewarded with a downwards whoosh on the scales when my period ends! I love seeing that!3

If I'm craving something I either workout or have frozen fruit.2

Some women just deal with it, others put themselves on maintenance for however many days they need and take it easy.
For myself, I have found that if I keep active before and during, cramping is less or nonexistent and generally after working out I'm not hungry so any cravings I had before are gone but sometimes I'll just have what I'm craving and be done with it.2 -
I try to keep my calories in check, but the first few days I tend to be hungrier so I just let my body do what it wants me to do. My calories are still under maintenance, though. I just make sure to move a little more than I typically would.1

Less refined carbs (for me it has to be none before 2pm at least if I want to avoid the crazy cravings), more fat, whole grains/beans during that time. Always plenty of protein. And magnesium supplements.
But I honestly had no problems with that until I got 15 pounds under the overweight BMI. I guess I got lucky.1 -
Thanks guys! I've been sticking to my calorie restrictions pretty good. It's that my cramping has been significantly worse this month so I just wanted to pig out for some reason. It's like "angry eating" but I wanted sweets of course. However, they got pretty bad to where I didn't even want to get up and get snacks so oddly they helped me stay on track today. I'm hoping it pays off when I'm off. Lol.0

How's your calcium intake? I've found that my cramps aren't as bad if I get my calcium in. I try to eat yogurt at least once a day the week before my period arrives, but I also use almond milk in my cereal and that helps.1

I eat! I either reduce my deficit or earn more Fitbit calories. It lasts 2-3 days and happens before my period.1

This! Plus, I try to eat more "dense" foods. Instead of my usual salad for lunch I'll have a tuna melt. More protein, more fat. Helps keep me sated, but still, it's just making it through the struggle for the payoff.2 -
I generally just keep things around that fix those cravings and work in my caloric budget. I always have fudgcicles (40 calories) and a selection of mini-cups of ice cream that range 100 to 260 calories in my freezer. I fit in what I crave and what works. For me being prepared is the key.1

For the cramps I pretty much have to alternate between advil and tylenol every 3 hours. It sucks. But that works. Just painful until the second one kicks in (it's just starting for me right now... lol). After that I'm good to go as long as I remember which one I took last.
The good thing though since losing weight is that I can take 2 of each... I needed 3 before.1 -

I usually go over in Calcium and I eat yogurt once maybe twice a day. My cramps usually are as bad as this month was. Guess it was just a random thing.0
