Is there any way of frying healthily. I currently use a little bit olive oil in a pan to make chicken. Is that healthy. If it isn't, can frying ever be healthy.

I use butter for pan frying, which is our preferred method for meats. I find the flavor better than oil or margarine.

I won an Actifry at the company Christmas party. It crisps up the meal with a single tablespoon of oil, using hot air.

If you have a decent non stick pan, ideally with a lid, you can fry without any oil.
I have one of the wide base with sides higher than a frying pan and lower than a saucepan. It's perfect and cook nearly everything in it. Obviously not as nice as frying in butter but much better on the calories.

    Spray oils are good too.

I also came across a recipe with something they called it "healthy sauté". You cut leeks into thin shreds and fry them in a tablespoon of stock. Add a further tablespoon part way through cooking.(then add the rest of the stock and juice of half a lemon, pop your salmon on top put the lid on the saucepan. They come out looking a little like a noodle soup with steamed salmon on top). Worked beautifully in that recipe but I haven't tried it in anything else

Saturated fats are the safest and healthiest to fry with. I use coconut oil and lard,; butter sometimes if the pan isn't too hot.

"healthy" is subjective. A little olive oil is fine.. it does have kind of a low smoke point though. If your watching calories i would measure the oil because those cals creep up fast.

edit-i use olive oil for raw purposes and ghee(clarified butter) for frying and high heat purposes.
