IMO don't spend money on a buggy product.
Personally, I'll gladly pay when they fix the database and the recipe builder...0 -
I payed for the app pretty soon after downloading it, but I can't remember too well what the difference was to be honest. I enjoy seeing my macros broken down and being able to set different goal days based on what my activity will be. I also get very annoyed with having to see advertisements so that alone was worth the upgrade for me. Still, I feel like you could use the regular app and be perfectly fine.0

In addition to this, I wouldn't pay for Premium until Support changes their attitude about cups being better than grams for solid foods and thinking it's acceptable to have liquid measurements for solid foods: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10395461/mfp-support-thinks-cups-is-better-than-grams-for-solid-foods
I use https://adblockplus.org and don't get any ads. For those who cannot use https://adblockplus.org on their phones, I'm sure there are ad blocker apps available through your app store much cheaper than $50/year.1 -

I have a premium membership and don't plan on renewing it when it's done. We get the same bugs as the regular membership so I don't see the need to continue on with it. That said, I did stop tracking my food a while ago, though. So I'm not taking advantage of any of the included features other than no ads, which I don't care about anyway.0

I do not feel it is worth it unless you are super focused on macros. You do get a lot of options with those in the premium. For me, the cost was not justified.0

I got it thinking I'd use it, but changed my mind. I liked the idea of setting different goals for different days, but ended up feeling like it didn't work for me. Likewise, I thought turning off the exercise calories would be great, but found I do better with a smaller goal and using the exercise calories as motivation. So, I won't be renewing mine, because the benefits just weren't there. The free version has everything I use already.0
