My dr. gave me an RX for vyvance. I was on Ritalin but it made me feel AWFUL. I've heard that on vyvance it's hard to eat, and i'm worried about that. So far (day 1) I feel great, but i can tell my appetite is blah. I'm nervous about not eating enough- does anyone else take this and if so how do you make sure you get in enough cals?

I am not taking Vyvanse but recently started on Strattera. The first few days I did not want to eat at all. I also felt sick to my stomach. After the nausea went away, I just had zero appetite. Although I had no appetite, I made a point to eat my calories for the day as much as I was not feeling it.
Now, about 3 weeks into it, I definitely have a decreased appetite but just make myself eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, supper, snack. That way I am getting all the calories my body needs.

I am actually enjoying the decreased appetite. As long as I am still eating, I like not feeling the urge to binge at night.

My son takes Vyvanse and its a struggle to get him to eat during the day. I make he has a big breakfast before taking the meds. He usually wont eat lunch and eats everything that isnt nailed down from the time he gets home from school till bedtime. I take Adderal and I have to make myself eat, but there are days when i dont eat until 5 PM bc i have no appetite.

Thanks ladies. I started on Strattera but it made me into a zombie. I actually fell asleep AT work and didn't know where I was when I woke up. It was awful. i'm glad its working for you! i wish I could have stayed on it. vyvanse seems to be working well, i'm just worried about getting the cals in.

Think about it this way if you aren't hungry you won't over eat! Just make sure you are eating at least the amount of cals you are given and don't worry about your excercise calories. I wish I had those problems with my ADD meds I was on Ritalin when I was a kid and have been on Straterra as an adult and have never had those problems of not being hungry I wish then maybe I wouldn't be where I am today!
