I don't recommend this.

Hip replacement is not a good way to lose weight. lol. I am just staying away from the scale till I am recovered. I weighed for fun today and is said what I actually felt, that I have 10 pounds of water retained and I think most of it is in my swelled up right leg.
Just need to try and keep the calories in in check.
I wonder, am I burning more calories while walking on my new hip with my cane? It is painful (and should be) so it seems like hopefully a burn rate will be there for the effort it takes to do the walking and exercises I am supposed to do. Whatever the case, I feel better today after the surgery yesterday that I have felt in the two years of deteriorating to bone on bon hippige. So, I will take it!

Glad you're feeling better. You are always burning calories. I have found that sitting in my recliner grooving to music and playing "air" drums gives me a good burn. And it is just too much fun!1

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Of course you will have post-surgery swelling, so don't stress about that 10lbs.0

When I tore my leg and ankle up I actually lost 20#'s just sitting on the couch with my leg up for months on end (after surgery). It was the strangest thing, but a great feeling. LOL Healing physically does actually burn a few more calories so depending on how much healing you have to do, you might actually lose a few even if your calories stay at maintenance for a short time. I know I did.0

Don't forget your body needs calories/nutrition to heal. It is making new connective tissue (joint capsule, skin, etc.) Now is not the best time to be too restrictive with your calories. You have plenty of time to do that getting more mileage from your new (pain-free) hip.
Wishing you better and better recovery.1 -
Your body will be burning a little more calories due to the healing process but not enough to think about. As above, don't be too restrictive, in fact I'd eat at maintenance for a while to make sure I give myself the best chance of the speediest of recoveries.1

Congratulations on the upgrade in hip.
Best wishes for your recovery!

My mom is getting full knee replacement surgery in October, she is trying to lose weight before then! >.<0

I am amazed that you are up and walking!
Eat at maintenance to assist with the healing.
10lbs water weight will go eventually.
Cheers, h.0
