Okay so I am not stressing out on losing weight! My MAIN goal is to keep the weight off after bearing a child (reminder- lost 100 lbs in the past 5 years). I switched jobs over 6 months ago.....from a very active retail store worker......Stocker --->to a bank teller. So my wieght flunctuates majorly now. Sometimes I feel like not eating anything heavy because it will just go to my A**.

Anyways question is......I lost the few pounds I gained from sitting on my A** for eight hours a day. So I wake up today and I am 106.5...Okay yesterday I was 105 even....Now is it water weight or is it muscle weight. I do 5o crunches a night and we are noticing my top abs get defined....

If you need to check my food diary out go ahead. I have been eating the right amount of calories...somedays I eat less...but I am tring to eat 1200 a day.

VOICE YOUR OPINIONS PLEASE????

1.5lbs in one day is water weight....Don't worry about it, the scale is gonna go up and down 3-6lbs every day.

    Yep....what she said. :)
  • I try to weigh myself at the most every week but if I can hold out and just weigh myself every 2-3 weeks it's definitely better for my self esteem ;) The scale is not your friend if you're trying to lose weight/gain muscle. I tend to start gaining weight when I hit the gym due to my muscle gain but I'll look more tone and slim 5lbs heavier than I did before.

i usually weigh around 170 but yesterday i was 181 and this morning i was 176... it's bc i ate more sodium than i usually do the past couple of days (pickles and chicken broth...), which made me retain a lot of water.

No, not really. As a woman, if you did full body strength training for hours a day like a professional bodybuilder, you'd be lucky to gain 5 lbs of muscle in a whole year (without anabolic steroids)!

Ditto to all the above. Remember that the crunches are actually building abdominal muscle so they not only will increase muscle mass (weight with it) but increase girth IF you don't take the superficial fat off the top of it.
It is important to have good core strength because that keeps your spine and joints in alignment and gives you stamina in dealing with stresses to your body, so keep up core strenghtening.
My thoughts are if your goal is health maintenance measure yourself weekly and rely on that as a meter stick more than the scale.
Also keep in mind that hormones will fluctuate your fluid retention cyclically. If you don't like the readings you are getting then decrease sodium and increase fluids for 2 days then remeasure. If you are taking care of yourself you will probably find water is your hidden trickster.
    Best to you!

wow...i do eat like 1-2 pickles a day. And yesterday I ate 2...So it is probably the sodium that made me retain water huh???

Could be a couple of things - water weight, needing to take a BM, extra glycogen stores. I wouldn't worry about it.

You need to calm down!! You're gonna send yourself right into an eating disorder, I'm totally serious.

And please don't weigh yourself every day, it is counterproductive.

P.S. Once I lost all of my baby weight and wanted to maintain I needed to up calories...1200 is a very small amount even for a small person such as yourself.

muscle weighs more than fat/ I had a client gain 4 pounds, losr 2 dress sizes..the scales are a distraction, go by the fit of your clothes and how you LOOK

Don't focus so much on the scale. it has it's benefits, but try using a body fat caliper instead. That's where you can get the best readings.

I respectfully suggest that you ARE stressing out, major league. You sound like someone that has developed a very unhealthy psycholgical approach to weight loss.

Take it down a notch, try to relax. The day to day fluctuations mean very little. It's what happens in the long run that matters.
