I've just posted about salt and sodium as turkey seems to be quite high in it, I get turkeys breast fillets from tesco and... well I know this is a really stupid question but I must be logging it wrong as it always seems to be over 1000mg in sodium? help please?!

ps, can I also change my settings so that sodium comes up in the first food page without having to go into reports??? If you know what I mean??

  • I would suggest you check the package label on the turkey next time and see what the actual sodium content per serving is and then compare to what comes up when you log. You may need to make your own entry.

Go into Settings from your home page, choose Diary Settings, choose sodium to show on your daily food log tracking.

I am assuming that you are talking about deli turkey breast? There is a ton of sodium in that. I was doing the Sara Lee turkey breast and it was over 1000 mgs of sodium. Sara Lee makes a low sodium turkey breast, so I buy that now. It still has 500+ mgs of sodium.

Yes, under your settings (I think) is where you would change it so you can track sodium, too. I track sodium and fiber along with the ones that are automatically tracked.

To change page one (Food Diary) defaults:
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

However, if you click "View Full Report (Printable)" at the bottom left on your food diary, the fiber and sodium are already tracked by default, so you could use other nutrients on page one.

Not sure about what Tesco is - a brand? I found that many of the packaged deli meats are high in sodium. If you have fresh cut deli meats, Boars Head is pretty low. The one packaged I found that was half the amount of sodium than others is called "Healthy Ones". They have 250+ instead of 500+ mg per serving.
