Why am I craving sweet foods that I never cared too much for in the first place?

I just found this kind of odd!
I have been at this for a few months and doing relatively well. It's the longest time by far that I've been committee to healthy eating.

Since a few weeks into my diet, I'll go through these days where I just crave sweet things like donuts or pancakes. I'll legit just fantasize about going to Krispy Kreme or IHOP.

I became overweight from my love of salty foods and just overeating on bad foods like fries and burgers all the time. I would never have chosen pancakes or donuts or really anything sweet for breakfast or ever really besides ice cream on occasion. Just never really had much of a sweet tooth. I'm wondering why I want them so much now!

Anyone experience something similar?

    Maybe you're being too restrictive???

You're probably being a little too restrictive. Do you allow any kind of "junk" food into your diet?

I was strict at first, but I have loosened up now that I have a better grasp on how to make the calories fit in.
I try to save my "cheat" calories for alcohol, but maybe I'll expand a bit and do dessert sometimes instead. For me I would rather have a larger portioned dinner than something sweet after.

I anticipate doing a good bit of cheating/eating at maintenance this weekend. I'll see how my cravings are next week :)

Hormones play a role in what your body craves. Pay attention to what week these cravings come in relation to your TOM sometimes that can be the link.

This happens to me a lot when I'm eating at a deficit. I've always thought it was because when I'm not giving my body all the calories it needs to maintain it's current size it naturally craves quick digesting foods like sugar.

No science to back that up, just seemed like a logical thought to me.
