Clean out the Pipes in your 40's or before.

Options
A buddy of mine ( 40's ) told me he was going to get his pipes cleaned out, he said he's sisters husband is a Doctor and he recommends that men have a colon cleanse ( hydro therapy) as it removes toxins and all the candy bars that you ate in since pre school.

According to him most people feel better, after the initial embarrassment and discomfort is over. Agree / disagree ?

Is he a doctor or some sort of naturopath "doctor". I have never seen compelling evidence that a cleanse is necessary without a specific underlying medical condition.

Im thinking this is the same thing as having a colonic correct? Well, I am a FAN of them. I have inherited those dark circles around my eyes and after maybe 1-2 sessions, I noticed a HUGE difference in my complexion. When I was not going to the colonic doctor on a regular, i noticed a difference in my energy level, etc... I was afraid that I was going to become dependent on going to this doctor in order to "go". I didn't it actually helped me out.

I also eat items by Activ Lifestyle (found at Kroger) especially their yogurt, it helps too! Drink plenty of water.

If you've got candy bars in your colon from back in preschool, then you have a problem...

Seriously, though - I don't really buy into the concept of needing a colon cleanse. Your body is designed to take care of itself, and that's nothing that drinking lots of water and eating enough fiber can't do for you. You don't say what type of doctor your sister's husband is... perhaps if he specialized in colons/digestive health it might carry some weight, but otherwise I'm of the opinion that on specific stuff like this, I wouldn't just take the advice of any random doctor.

He is a General family doctor, not a specialist.

Here is some advice from someone whose specializes in this topic:
Although doctors prescribe colon cleansing as preparation for medical procedures such as colonoscopy, most don't recommend colon cleansing for detoxification. Their reasoning is simple: Your digestive system and bowel naturally eliminate waste material and bacteria — your body doesn't need colon cleansing to do this.

If you want to clean your system, eat a bowl of oatmeal and 1 grapfruit everday...All that fibre will clean the pipes pretty good...
