Since I've been eating in a more healthy way, I've been limiting sweet treats to once or twice a week and I've noticed that when I do indulge, some treats that I used to love have become very sweet, even to the point of being somewhat unbearable. Is this normal?

Yeah I know what you mean. I used to eat a lot of fast food and I don't eat it anymore but today I was at the mall and thought I could really go for a cheese burger. I couldn't believe how salty it was. I couldn't eat it, it was so awful.

I have noticed that same thing ... on some level I hate it because I love my sweets but on a good note I don't eat 10 candy bars in a day.

This should definitely be happening if you are being so good as to limit yourself to that infrequent. You see, sugar is evil, when we eat it, we want more of it. The more we eat, the more we crave. Good for you. I must say, I have not done as well. Though I am cutting back, I mean I have to to stay within my calorie alotment. But just now, I had one Hershey Kiss, ONE. And I couldn't stand to have anything else except my water. I feel so good about myself.

I learned something new on that RealAge site. I knew sweet and salty were taste buds but did you know that fat is an acquired taste bud we get through being exposed to it. The human tongue has to acquire a taste for fat. Weird huh! I usually bake my own sweets now. I can control what goes in them this way including the amount of sugar.

  • Totally normal. I have completely cut out fried and very rich foods from my diet. When I eat them now, I get sick to my stomach.

That happens with some sweets and also with anything greasy! Even a little grease will upset my stomach!

I so agree on the grease. It is so bad when I eat greasy food now. And potato chips, I use to be able to eat almost a whole bag. (I could have eaten the whole bag but thought that would be bad so I'd only eat 3/4) Now just a few is more than enough.
