How to log fluid intake

Hello myfitnesspal community!

I've just started with the app today after finally switching from the terrible terrible S Health and have a technical question right away:
Under water consumption, should I log only pure water (tap, bottled, sparkling)? Or when I log a different fluid under food, should I also concurrently log the equivalent amount of water in the water consumption? Can myfitnesspal derive the fluid intake off the consumed food and does it even matter? Maybe I'm reading too much into it and the app isn't sophisticated to this level of detail.

Thanks for all the advice!

The water section is a "reference only" thing. It gives you a general idea of your fluid intake. I personally don't log water at all because I've never had problems staying hydrated. Some people double log their fluids in the diary and as water to gauge their hydration, other people log only pure water to gauge how they're doing in terms of switching from calorific drinks to pure water. It's completely up to you and how you wish to use it. The most important thing about it is whether or not you add your drinks as glasses of water, always add them to your diary if they have calories.

The water tracker is to give you a ballpark amount of the water you've consumed if you want to track that. The tracker isn't connected to any other data. It's up to you to decide if you want to include your other fluids as part of your water count. Water in food won't be counted unless you give that a guess and add it yourself.
