Hi. My name is Lisa and I am looking for those of you over 50 years old like myself for support & motivation. I have been on myfitnesspal for a year now and have lost 18 lbs in the first 6 months, but have been plateau'd for the last 6 months. I need to lose another 50 lbs. I have been depressed for the past several months because I don't know what direction my life is taking and I think the stress is not helping. If you would like to be my friend, please send me a friend request. Together we may be able to help motivate each other.

I hear ya...turned 50 in January. Used MFP very successfully 2 years ago but have regained some back since then. What worked then for me no longer works due to menopause, doc told me to cut back another 200 or so cals from my daily intake, sigh. So here I am, but I'm starting to get used to this and could also use some accountability. Feel free to add me.

I smiled when I saw this thread because sometimes it seems like everyone on here is twenty-something. Congrats to them for getting healthy now but the over 50 folks face some special challenges. I am restarting today and could sure use the support and motivation fellow MFP folks provide. Feel free to add me.

I'm in. Age definitely plays a unique role in weight, especially for women. I have at least 25 to lose. Not easy.

Hi there. I'm 56 years old and have lost 17 lbs from when I got serious a few months ago.

My goal for today is to make sure i get 64 oz of water in. I'm working on making lifestyle changes one baby step at a time so that I make it a habit and not something I hate and resent!

I am 56 and have all the same problems. I know if I was more active I would lose more weight. But I'll be honest I never liked exercise. I get down on myself when I see my husband. He had gastric bypass and lost 100 lbs and looks fantastic. In my poor me moments I feel I will never be thin again ....

I hear ya. Trying to lose weight is so frustrating. I have lost 15 but have been stuck there for awhile now. My husband is one of those who loves working out and is in great shape. He doesn't really understand my weight problem. Sigh. Its great we can support each other!

Hello, please feel free to add me.
I'm 51 and just recently come back to MFP, I started at 246 pound and currently am at 236, I want to get to 190.
I have fibromyalgia but feel better for the gentle excersise each day.
Good luck, don't look back or forward just live each moment and you will achieve your goal.

I am only 49, but please feel free to add me. I have been yoyo dieting for over 5 years. So I stopped dieting and am changing my lifestyle. Investing in myself, I got me a personal trainer and nutritionist. This time there is no failing!

I'll be 65 next month. I am doing the ketogenic diet and doing well with it and I truly love it. My husband has joined me and he loves it as well. We eat regular food. It is a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet. I set my macro nutrients in MFP which helps me stay on track. Anyone may add me as a friend. I have an open diary.

52 here, started on mfp about 4 years ago and lost 51 pounds. And then gained most of it back.
I started back here 5 weeks ago, and am definitely finding it harder to shift the weight this time around.
I would certainly welcome some friends to help motivate and encourage me - I appreciate the effort from those that take the time to pass a comment or remind me to get off my *kitten* and move.

Hi I'd like to join. I'm 57 and that 50+ really does make us women struggle to lose weight and keep it off. I've been a yo-yo dieter for years. I need to lose 20# right now but my goal is to keep it off. Would love a MFP diet/exercise buddy to check in with daily for shared motivation and accountability. If interested friend me. Joan

There are at least a couple of groups for 50+ or beyond here on MFP, too:

    OVER 50 GROUP

Mature Adults support, motivation and sharing 55 +

    I'm 60, 5'5", SW 183 in April 2015, CW/GW 120 +/- 3, maintaining since around February 2016.

I'd also like to join. I'm 51 with 50 lbs to lose. I would love to go on this journey with others who understand how hard it can be, but believe the destination will be worth it!

You can add me as well. I am 55 and trying to lose 80 pounds. I was 288, I'm now 280. I lost 8 pounds in a month. It was no walk in the park, but this time I MUST Lose this weight. Why? Because I don't like being CONTROLLED by anyone or anything. I've got to show Food who controls who.

Please add me! Just turned 57 years old and put weight back on after quitting smoking and a bout of depression. I need all the support I can get, I live alone with rescue dogs.
