Dead lift burpees

Everyone hates burpees, but to spice it up a bit, your hands never leave the bar. Instead of jumping after the push up, do a dead lift. You can do however many sets you want. I did 10 sets of 10 going heavier each time. Something different. Good cardio

I thought you needed the jump for it to be a burpee. Without the jump what you describe is a squat thrust with a pushup, no? Isn't the difference between a burpee and a squat thrust the jump?

What happens when the bar rolls? You might be able to control it in the beginning, but unless you have special blocks it will roll at some point. Definitely a bad idea.

That sounds like a fascinating way to injure your back. Let me know how that goes.

Fitness blender on YouTube has a move like this called a "deadlift kick out". No jumping - but still brings my heart rate up when doing the "kick out" quickly. It's an awesome lower body workout - if you like squats and deadlifts, that is! :)

Now if only I could add in a Bosu ball and a vibration plate too.....

Would that be the Bosu flipped with the flat side up on the vibration plate? :D

Do all this under a bar and throw a pullup in there for good measure...

See, that's funny. One of the trainers at my gym does burpees and adds a chin/pull up. No bosu balls or deadlifts, though.

Yep. That's the torture deal for missing a training session from me.

10 deads, 10 burpee over bar will get the heart rate screaming just fine.

Video it and put it on YouTube. This has the potential to be even better than some of those "Crossfit fail" videos.

I vote deadlifts #1 on the list of "Exercises I'd be least likely to screw with by adding other movements to them".

I'm all for creative spins on burpees, but that's one I'm not sure I'd try.
