Myfitness pal app removes calories

I use the myfitness pal app to track calories and excercise (bike riding and steps). If I get 10000 steps in a day and don't ride my bike, at the end of the day the app will log 10000 steps and give me 400+ calories burned. However, if I get 10000 steps AND log a bike riding session (burning say 500 calories), then the app automatically reduces my 10000 steps calorie burn from 400+ calories burned to about 100 calories burned for the day. Why does the app reduce my calories from steps if I take the initiative and ride my bike on a given day. Seems like I'm being punished for extra excercise. Thanks!

You've got negative calories enabled. The assumption is that some of those steps are being logged while on the bike, so it's adjusting to keep you from double-dipping. If you know you're not logging exercise that is also counted as steps, then just turn off negative calories.

It reduces automatically on mine as well, despite my negative calories are disabled. Not sure why that happens.

Anyone knows the basis or rationale behind the adjustments or caloric reductions with increased activities?

I wonder about this too... I mean I could understand it for running/step classes etc but it shouldn't take calories off for activities like swimming and spin class or cycling surely!?
