O.K. I started a diet months ago, but with the holidays and just life, I gave it up. Have not gone completely out of control, but now it's time to get serious. But I need help getting motivated. I just can't get myself

You can do this! Just start drinking your water and watching everything you put in your mouth and count all of your calories. Even the small bites that you wouldn't count because they are calories too. Don't give up!!! And exercise when you can!

Hi, and welcome to THE best site on the web! First off, stop thinking of this as a "diet". It's REALLY NOT, it's a "lifestyle change". When I first heard that, I thought "what crap!" But, once I got into it every day, I saw that that's EXACTLY what it is! Diets always had me feeling like I was deprived, but MFP isn't like that at all! Heck, once in awhile I even eat a double cheeseburger or Chinese Food! You just have to "work" with your numbers, and you WILL lose weight!
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:
