Going dairy free for skincare. Help with recommendations!!!

Going to test out going dairy free for my skins sake. I notice that I get more flare ups or some acne with increased dairy consumption, which sucks cause I eat ALOT of Greek yogurt and I do use whey to bake with. I already use cashew milk cause I think it tastes better than normal milk, but does anyone have an recommendations for a lower calorie non dairy yogurt? Or your favorite non dairy yogurt, cheeses, and proteins powders that are a good quality but not too expensive. I'm not going vegan, just dairy free. I just need an alternative to Greek yogurt especially lol I love that stuff. Also, is goats milk supposed to cause breakouts as well? I know they say dairy doesn't cause acne, but I do notice flare ups if I have a lot of whey/ dairy/ protein bars. Any recommendations for dairy free alternatives?? Thank you!! Sorry if this is a scattered post and repetitive lol I'm in a rush and wanted to post this quick(:

I have tried plenty of dairy free products, and would rather not eat those foods. If you don't want dairy, then don't eat it, but you aren't going to find the same taste that you love. Sorry to burst your bubble . If you are adamant about eating yogurt, So Delicious is made from coconut milk, and it is okay-- if you are concerned about too much soy, this would be a good alternative. Silk also makes a yogurt which is soy.
I would recommend to try reducing your dairy consumption first, and you may be able to find an upper limit. You could eat your Greek yogurt and have a Vega (pretty good vegan) protein shake one day. Or cheese and a vegan protein bar (Perfect Bar or Evo Hemp are good choices). Goat milk and cow milk has the same amount of casein and whey, but goat milk has less of the alpha-S1 that is known to cause allergies. You could always give it a try first, but be aware that it tastes a little "gamier" than cow's milk for those of us who are used to drinking milk from cows.
Hope this helps.1 -
I have been dairy free for about a decade. (I have a milk protein allergy and am allergic to both casein and whey.)
My advice is that during your test, you just avoid the alternatives. Not because they aren't good (because some of them are) but because you'll likely find them lacking that tang or "je ne sais quoi" that only full-on dairy can provide. Better to eat calories that are truly satisfying rather than a little disappointing. Later on, if you decide avoiding dairy is the best for you, then I would definitely try the alternatives out.
As for goat's milk, it is technically a different protein/different sugar but just avoid it for a clean test. And I say that only because I react similarly to goat's milk and sheep's milk as I do to cow's milk. I would test those two out later if you see a need.

You *might* be able to just cut back. I also break out (especially cystic type) when I take in too much dairy or whey. Whey protein powders really do me in. I like the flavor of Silk yogurt and some coconut based ones, almond ones are trial and error as some are rather vile BUT don't recall protein content in any of those. Vega and supposedly Sun Warrior have good vegan protein powders. I'm working on finishing a container of Vega, but I just don't like the taste as well as MetRx and the stevia in it is way too sweet for me. Sun Warrior is next on my list to try. Some like egg based protein powders - never tried.
I found that breakouts from whey protein powders is a common thread on bodybuilding.com. I am just trying to avoid it, others swear drinking more water helps (didn't for me, YMMV).0 -
Some cliff bars are not made with milk (Check labels). They are under a recall at the moment: http://www.bobsredmill.com/gluten-free-hearty-whole-grain-bread-mix.html

Look for vegan bars like Luna and Laura bars
I have had coconut yogurt. It is good but needs some nuts or seeds added for more protein.
To save money long term, consider an at home yogurt maker.
Goat milk is similar to cow milk.
This is the protein powder I use: Nutribiotic Organic Rice Protein-Plain: $38.90($12.97/Pound.
It tastes o.k. mixed with something like coconut water or soy milk or cucumbers and a piece of fruit or peanut butter.0 -
Awesome thanks everyone!1

My skin reacts badly to dairy too, but i refuse to give it up! I stopped having yogurt everyday, and I also make a mix of Almond milk and cows milk to have have in my cups of tea through out the day. I was having 550ml of milk every morning, but i cut it down to 200ml and add vanilla almond milk to make up the difference.
I don't get acne, but I always have these little white bumps under my skin, on my chin. When I reduce dairy I see a huge difference.0 -
I've found that just cutting way back on milk and eliminating yogurt has improved my skin greatly. I still eat cheese just about every day, but I hardly ever break out anymore.
I am not much help when it comes to suggesting alternatives, but I would suggest adding back 1 dairy item at a time to see if anything in particular causes more issues.
