i just started lifting and it's been about a week and the first day I started the gym I upped my calorie intake to 2400 and I started at 191 and I am now 195.8. Is this good or bad? Really don't want to be adding anymore fat than I already have. P.s. My goal is to gain muscles and loose fat

Here is the thing... When you lift weight and do it to build muscle just expect your weight to increase.
Muscles retain more water and it is heavier than fat.
Get a bf% device and try to meassure yourself. Scale weight is going to have you panicing.1 -

Dude if you were gaining 5 pounds a week I guarantee you that you would have to be eating closer to 5500 calories a day if 2400 was your maintenance. It's mostlikely water weight. Also you have to realize that your weight can fluctuate up to 5lbs a day due to hydration, food consumption, and the amount of mass in your bowls at that current time.
