Happy, but a bit sad

I tried on an old swimsuit for the first time in ages today. As I've lost about 40 pounds since the beginning of the year, I anticipated it being too big, which it was. I'm super happy with my weight loss thus far, but for some reason today looking in the mirror with the bathing suit on I noticed for the first time I'm getting loose skin. I still have a lot of fat to lose and muscle to tone, but it made me a little sad. I don't think I'll be comfortable in a bathing suit yet this summer.
My advice is to listen to the people on the forums about lifting weights while you lose...I wish I would have!!

It is an endless evolving journney. You just need to improvise, adapt, and overcome!1

Skin can take a year to retain its elasticity2

Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way today. I'm down 47lbs. I went to the gym, and then afterwards went to a clothing store to exchange an item. While I was trying on the replacement item, I saw my legs in the mirror. Just made me so depressed I almost ate a Bueno Chilada platter. It was really tough.0

I'm sorry you had a tough day too. Something like that can really take the proverbial "wind out of your sails." You just keep up the hard work, it's a really impressive loss.

It's easier to find the negatives in a success story! Fixate on the positive things... That's old you way of thinking... Takes the mind time to change also I think...1

I just wear capris now. And tankini suits. Oh well. No more thunder thighs, but pretty wrinkly now.
I'd rather be slim, though....1 -
It's alright. Set new goals now. Lift more weight. Tone your body. With your impressive progress, it shouldn't take too long! You can do it!1

welcome to the club, I think for many of us it is part of the journey. Just tell your self you are giving yourself more time in your life to deal with the smaller problems.1

+1 to what everyone else has already said. I lost nearly 60lbs, and while I'm pretty sure I don't have loose skin, I myself also wish I didn't neglect weight training while losing since I'm not very toned. However, even with that, I *still* love my body. I see this now as a new goal to continually increase my strength as I maintain this weight for life.
You've already done extremely well in losing weight. Tons of people never even make it to the initial start of weight loss. Take time getting comfortable wearing a swimsuit in public, but also, if it helps to know, I would never judge a person's loose skin. I think it's a great mark of dedication. It means you lost a lot and such a feat takes real dedication.1 -
Thank you all so much! If nothing else it's a good reason to buy a cute cover up!1

Try to embrace the new you, loose skin and all. I lost 100 pounds and I strength train 3X per week and still have loose skin. I have been trying to see myself as good enough without all the usual mental noise and put downs of the past. You are more than what you see in the mirror!!0
