So my doctor just put me on the insulin resistance diet and i have to completely have sugar, pasta, and flour out of my diet. By the next two weeks i have to be all those free and eat nothing but fatty meats and lots of veggies. Just need advice for anyone that has done this diet for a beginner.

    * Does not necessarily have to be fatty meats.
It can be lean meats also.

I am insulin resistant with pcos. I watch my calories and try to keep the carbs as low as possible. I don't eat a lot of sweets, bread is more of a problem but there are options. I prefer leaner meats. Keep in mind that lots of low fat items have more sugar in them. Also lower fat dairy products have more carbs.

Your doctor did this because why? trying to prevent diagnosis of diabetes? I'm not sure exactlywhat pcos is. I'm type 2 diabetic for last 15 years. I try to minimize carbs as much as possible

Pcos is polycystic ovary disease (Stein Levanthal). It is basically a lifelong condition that some women have. It has many symptoms including insulin resistance, weight gain around the middle torso, and difficulty losing that weight among other things. Low carb diets tend to work best for most women with pcos.

Confirm with your doctor if this also includes rice, quinoa, potatoes, etc. (For rice, I suggest wild rice instead of white; for potatoes, go for sweet potatoes for the beta carotene.) If potatoes are right out, I can tell you that mashed cauliflower with a bit of cream and butter is just as good as mashed potatoes. :)

Also, confirm with your doctor what restrictions (if any) are on the vegetables that you eat - some are a lot more carb-heavy or sugar-heavy than others. Carbs are still a REQUIREMENT in your diet. Unless your doctor has you on biweekly blood tests, you MUST have some carbs in your diet. At least fruits and vegetables are healthy carbs, rather than pasta, flour, etc etc etc.

I was also diagnosed with PCOS some 20 years ago, and I encourage you to have your insulin resistance retested after one year following your dietary change.

    Good luck!

No, carbs are not a REQUIREMENT. Also, I question the wisdom of not only cutting carbs, but also fats. Sounds like that will make the whole thing a miserable affair. There's no such thing as healthy or good carbs. Fruit I would particularly avoid, because of the fructose. Berries are ok, but not apples, oranges, bananas etc.

There is no such thing as a healthy or good carb? All vegetables and fruits are loaded with carbs. You have to go for a low GI carbs. Carbs are highly essential to our bodies and are the best source of energy. When you have issues with insulin resistance, you have to cut out high GI carbs because they spike your blood sugar.

I would say for you to aim for 40% protein, 35% fats and 25% carbs.

@Joyneronherwayfitforbaby Eat more variety of meat than you had been eating: pork chops, dark meat chicken, salmon, tuna, steak, shrimp in butter or cream sauce.
Also cheese, eggs, butter, bacon, full fat salad dressing, full fat dairy, olive oil, coconut oil, heavy cream or half and half in coffee.
Low carb veggies include olives, pickles, cucumbers, broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini, asparagus, cauliflower, egg plant, kale, romaine, spinach, carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms, cabbage, onions, garlic,
Low-ish carb fruits include fresh, frozen, or canned berries like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries.
