Fit bit problems

I bought a fit bit a few weeks ago so I could connect it with my fitness pal, and I knew it would be more accurate than my phone, but ever since I got it I've only been able to sync it with the app maybe once or twice, anyone else have similar issues or know how to fix it?

    Syncing takes quite a while as there is a lot of data to transfer. Try taking off the Fitbit, lay it close by your phone and open the app. Wait until you see the sync bar finish. A day of data tends to take me a good minute or two so a week may take a bit of time.

    Ok thanks! I also don't understand why if I took 5,000 steps on my phone it gives me say 60 extra exercise calories but I take 8,000 steps with the Fitbit and it gives me 0 extra calories?

    Sorry I've no idea on that one as I don't count calories anymore.

    I don't find the Fitbit calorie calculation accurate so I just log my exercise separately on MFP and use my Fitbit to try and hit my step goals

    What's your activity level setting on MFP?

    It seems that (from what I see posted here on MFP) at around 3k steps is when people start to notice a positive adjustment with their activity level set to Sedentary. Higher activity levels mean MFP thinks your base calorie burn is higher, so it takes longer to get extra calories from Fitbit.

    Sedentary = BMR x 1.2
    Lightly Active = BMR x 1.4
    Active = BMR x 1.6
    Very Active = BMR x 1.8

    You get calories added from Fitbit when your Fitbit calorie burn is higher than what MFP estimated based on your activity level. It is done this way so that you won't get extra calories for doing stuff that your activity level has already factored in.

    Okay, I get it now, I have it set as acutve cause I'm a line cool In a very busy restaurant, on my feet all day, just not sure why it was giving me all the extra calories then when I use my iPhone as my step counter:/
