Welcome aboard! What brings you to a point where you want to start counting calories?

    And yeah, I'm an ectomorph.

Well I've never tried it and I've struggled for 2 and a half yrs to gain and even maintain my weight. Just started it with my fitbit last month and I have noticed some minor differences. Just started mfp as it seems to have a better ux design layout. I've got high anxiety so in the end just want to stay healthy and gain 4kg lol

Roger, thanks for explaining. In my experience, taking a numbers based approach tends to drive anxiety up in folks who are already pretty high strung. I'm speaking generally here, obviously, but something to consider. In high strung people, I tend to prefer a skills/habit based approach where we're focusing on a handful of skill acquisitions at any given time.

In your particular case, one of those would obviously be progressive resistance training... assuming you weren't already doing that. Another would be something on the nutrition front to help get your calories up. Something like a smoothie before bed for X number of days per week to bring calories up. Or including fat in each meal. Really it could be whatever. But it'd be about slowly changing how you interact with food.

It's not The Way. But just an alternative perspective to consider.

Thanks for the info, well I should've stated that I was only 55kg back then (due other problems..sorry I really don't want to say it online) and I've bounced back 11kg+ . Yes I'm doing progressive resistance training and I do agree there are other factors that may hinder my progression too. I do know my diet has hindered it (pescaterian diet etc), hence the need for using this app (& the fitbit app last month) to double check my intake. So I could readjust what nutrients I need to not only to maintain but also to gain weight. The other factor is that I've moved and my cycling journey to different locations has doubled.

Anyways i'm just nitpicking the last few kg's coz it has been too long that my weight fluctuates and I believe I need more info in the nutritions that I consume. But I definitely understand where you're coming from, I mean I did consider having 4 meals per day. But it just doesn't fit into my lifestyle at the present time .
