Injury and Exercise (How to still get a good workout when you have an injury?)

Okay, I have injured myself because I was told I did too much too fast. I have Pectoral tendonitis and Achilles tendonitis. I must admit, I have slacked off a lot since the injury and it is starting to take a toll on my weight loss efforts. I have been going to physical therapy 2x a week at $40 per session. That gets quite expensive. What can I do to still get a good workout but not injury myself worse until it heals. Unfortunately, it is taking longer than normal (I feel) to heal. It has been a year and I am still in pain. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Ask your therapist what exercises would be good given your situation.
You're paying a professional who can evaluate you in person. Much better advice than an Internet forum.

I use to have the Achilles tendinitis and it took forever to heal, so don't worry it will it just likes to take its sweet time! Do you have ankle braces? That helped some for mine. I still continued to play volleyball with it - probably wasn't the best choice but I wrapped it and had the ankle braces and did therapy . I'd say maybe just do light activities for now or your local pool for swimming .0

You need to speak to a professional to determine alternative pain free movements. Otherwise, you'll have to figure it out on your own using pain as a gauge.
Right now, I'm training around an L5 fracture and it's extremely irritating. Cannot do any axial loaded movements, or hyperextensions. Right now I'm working lower body with moments like Bet Squats, Leg Press, Unilateral RDLs... All pain free.
I still have a few more weeks for it to heal according to the doctor though.
Good luck0 -
I agree you really have to talk to your physical therapist. They'll be able to give you a program. Trying to research yourself or taking advice from other people can wind up hurting you0

Do what your physical therapist has recommended or approved for you. In other words, ask your physical therapist your question: what can I do to still get a good workout, but not injury myself worse until it heals.0
