Help!
I'm going to a BBQ restaurant with a big group for a birthday party tonight... and It doesn't seem like there are any healthy choices on the menu. On top of that, it's family style... so I may not even get much say into what I'm eating.
I'm making sure to get plenty of exercise today, and with my few small meals I should have 850 calories left over.
I looked up the menu, and the options are below. I'd love any input on getting through the night without blowing my calorie budget!
Pork
- Pork Shoulder
- Pork Belly
- St Louis Style Ribs
- Ham
- Sausage
Beef
- Brisket
- Pastrami
- Boneless Ribs
- Ribs w/ Bone
- Sirloin Tip
Sides
- German Potato Salad
- Broccoli Salad (not sure about the dressing - the menu doesn't say)
- Pickles
- Sauerkraut
- Coleslaw
- Baked Beans
- Potato Chips

- Sirloin Tip and Hams could be ok.
Pickels are low fat but high sodium. Coleslaw can be great if it's not creamy.
Ask for a doggy bag at the start of the meal. If not eat half then pour a ton of pepper on the other half
Good luck0 -

Unfortunately this is the kind of BBQ place where you order a pound of this, or a pound of that, and eat it family style. It would be hard to get an individual portion.

So you are the one putting your meal in your dish? Sorry I never went to that kind of place0

I say if you have 850 left and you plan to exercise then enjoy whatever you want in moderation. You'll know if your killin it. Just try to be sensible and allow yourself some delicious bbq...0

Maybe Sirloin tip and brocoli? As for the dressing, you can ask the waiter to bring you some lemon, vinegar and/or olive oil for your dressing.
Honestly, If you tried a little bit of something else, I think it's ok. Just enter what you think you will be eating ahead of time. If you think you are running low in cals, maybe subtiture some of your snacks for low cal snacks, so you can eat a little more tonight.0 -
If the food comes out family style, it would be in the center of the table, and you would serve it on your own plate (I'm assuming). Estimating the portion you put on your plate would be your best bet. You can always ask the group if they mind having the sauce on the side (doesn't hurt to ask). Good luck!

That link is AWESOME!! Thank you.0 -
sirloin tip & beans. Tons of Protein. The beans may have a little more fat or carbs in them but you'll likely eat less of them because they're typically very filling. Watch portions. YUM have fun.0

A lot of over-thinking in here.
Is your diet decent 6 days out of the week? Are you losing weight (if that's your goal)? Are you exercising daily? If you answer yes to those questions, just eat up and consider it a "cheat" meal. If anything, your cortisol (stress hormone) levels will be lower because you won't be so worried about counting everything that is coming your way.0
