Hungry... Hungry.. Hungry.. almost gave in....

Tonight I learnt a really important lesson (and to be honest one I should have already known)

Today I was on a training course - buffet lunch provided which ended up being a selection of very high calorie sandwiches, crisps, cake and fruit.... So I ate half a avocado and hummus sandwich and some grapes.

We had also volunteered to take a friend’s son Joe to his fencing class so did not get time to eat when I got in from work (we normally eat between 5-6pm) but had to leave home at 5:30pm so we planned to have dinner when we got in around 8:00pm.

Well the drive back was a complete nightmare I could almost hear the various take away food outlets calling my name and the inner dialogue of ‘it won’t hurt for one night’ was like a war going on... The final straw was in the car Joe opened a bag of cheese and onion crisps..... ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know if I had given in to the temptations I would have fallen off the wagon completely.

Somehow I made it home, cooked dinner (Quickly) and ate.... All is well in my world again....

Apart from taking food out with us, or giving in how do you all cope with those unplanned moments when the temptation just gets too too much.... Is this always going to be the demon on my shoulder......

Lucy

Snacks at the ready. Keep a little bag of almonds in the car or in your purse! :)

Frist I'm super proud you didn't cave in! From the sounds of your post your over the great pond... Do they have almond snack packs? I love keeping this in my purse for emergencies only! I usually will throw an apple in my purse too if I know my schedule may get crazy and I wont be able to eat at my normal time. It may also help if you up your protien first thing in the am. I've been trying to eat 30+grams of protien in the am and this really helps keep me full all day!

Great strength, but do keep granola bars or nuts in your purse or car. It makes to easier to resist.

Great job!!!! Im still training myself not to cave in, I just pop in a piece of gum or drink a ton of water and try to think about how guilty I would feel tomorrow if I did cave in :)

Almonds are always in my purse. I also have a go-to list of what I can eat from what fast food places, in case of "emergency".

Good job, I will be watching this thread closely as I too feel temptation too powerful at times! Again, good job!

I completely understand your pain. I have kids, sports, work and going to school full time. Sometimes running around I dont have time to get a meal in at home. The other night we did McDonalds and I ordered a side salad, plain chicken wrap and a water. This was a first for me and I was totally excited by my self control. Most places have low calorie options. Even Taco Bell has a fresco menu. If you do have to grab a quick meal at a fast food place just make sure it is somewhere that offers healthy choices.

    Good luck!!

Emerald 100 calorie packs of almonds and Ocean Spray 100 calorie packs of Crasins have saved my butt more than once. We spend a lot of time in and out of the hospital with my youngest son and I always make sure I have a pack of almonds, a pack of cranberries, a bottle of water, and a slim-fast shake in the bag we keep packed for the hospital. Congratulations on resisting :) Keep it up.
