Hi everyone! I've been exercising and tracking my inches for about a month now. I'm losing inches everywhere else, but I've gained in my thighs and calves, but I don't want that to happen! I've been doing insanity max 30 and some beach body on demand. How do I slim them down?

I'm no scienceologist or anything, but I don't think you can guide fat loss like that. Fat comes from where the body decides to take it. For example, doing crunches don't make your stomach slimmer, but will define the muscles underneath, which can sometimes make it seem slimmer. You can certainly target these places with exercises but you just have to keep moving forward with your weightloss. Eventually your body will need to get fat from those areas.

Take a gander at So you want a nice stomach one of many helpful articles until the announcement posts.

You can't spot reduce fat, unfortunately, keep on keeping on!

if you're really working your leg muscles, they might be a bit swollen from water getting used to repair them. Make sure to wait 48 hours or so after a workout before measuring. How much weight have you lost?

I've lost 10 pounds and 10.4 inches. I'm guess it's just muscle gain? It's half an inch I've gained in both. My legs have always been athletic since volleyball in middle school and I've hated them! But ok thank you! I will wait and see!

If you've lost 10#, you probably haven't really built any muscle. Make sure you're not swollen, like I said, and make sure you're measuring the same spot and that the tape is horizontal to the ground. It's hard to build muscle on a deficit, so I wouldn't worry about your legs getting bigger if you're losing weight.

No, I don't think it is muscle mass. It is most likely your muscles retaining water.
