Self belief, consistency & determination = success

At the start of the academic year one of my students told me that he was going to pass his maths exam. Now, this is a child who has historically always been at the bottom of his class, one who everyone said could never make it. Thankfully, I always dis-regard the opinions of other teachers in that respect as I feel it's important for ALL children to have a fresh start when they enter my class.
All year long this little boy has said "Miss I'm going for my Level 4 (the pass mark) and every single day he has plodded along, trying his best, never complaining. This child has a learning difficulty so struggles far more than the average child. That aside, I always tried my best to take the extra time he needed to support him through his work because I could see that he had a great maths brain, he was just painfully slow. Well, we got the exam results today and that same little boy who everyone said could never make it passed with flying colours - I was in tears because I was so happy and proud of him.
His success got me thinking about our weight/fat/inch loss journeys and it became even more apparent that much of our success or failure is down to our own self belief and determination. We MUST believe we can in order to achieve our goal.:drinker: :drinker: If we believe and do all we can just like I supported this little boy God will support us and we will be successful.

Great story! And kudos to you for sticking by that little boy and encouraging him!!! We need more teachers like you!!!
I also believe that mindset if at minimum half the battle of our healthier life journey; I have tried before but didn't care enough to stick with it; this time I care and although I'm only two weeks in I have a much brighter outlook!0 -
