Is it okay to aim for?

I have always heard that you should aim for a weight loss goal of 1-2lbs a week. Now if your heavier and have more weight to lose is it okay to aim for a weightloss goal of 3-4lbs a week. I have been trying to make my goals for 3lbs a week seeing that I have so much to lose right now then when I get down more I'll aim for 2. Is that okay or should I really only be losing it at 2 lbs a week regardless of my starting weight? Thanks!

  • When I did Weight Watchers they always told us that anything more than 2lbs for more than 3 wks in a row was unhealthy. And my mom was doing it with me, and she had quite a bit to lose. So I think it's no matter what your weight is. One thing I learned if you're feeling overwhelmed by your ultimate goal is just focus on losing 10% of your current weight (ei. if a person weighed 200lbs, just strive for 20 at first). Then go from there.

I know you think you have a lot to lose, but 2 lbs a week will get you there. There are loads of people on here with 100+ and sometimes even 200 lbs to lose. 2 lbs a week is getting them there. Don't set your settings that low.
