Hi , My name is Kamala I just turned 47 and some time in Novemeber of last year I started really focusing on losing weight, I started at 287 and I went down to 242 and just recently I hit a plato where I didn't lose not one single pound for the month, I was journaling everything I ate and drank, walked the treadmill twice a day for 20 minutes and results where happening, but I got so so so discouraged when I hit the plato and I have had no motivation since then, I have gained some weight back, I am now at 251 and I am so discouraged..really just looking for support

I know exactly how you feel, I hit that plateau and after a couple months I give up. This time I am trying to get a friend support system in place. Don't give up, you can do this. Are you weighing everything or just tracking?

    Hi there.
There are some groups on MFP that are for people in exactly the same position as you. I've definitely recommend having a look, and joining one that you think is best for you. Not only can you get some good support there from people who will totally understand, but there'll be plenty of good advice on offer too.
I'm in the same position of having to lose over 100lbs, and I found a group that's great, both on my good days and my not so good days. I hope it works out for you :)

I hit a plateau as well. That's when I had to change things up a little. Increase a workout here. Be stricter on food and drinks there. Stay positive!!

Believe in yourself and you are halfway there! This is hard and motivation can be a challenge to keep! But make sure you find something every day! I like to go to the success community and get inspired by them when I am feeling blue or when I get in a slump I like to make fitness challenges for myself and I focus on that!

Thanks Everyone who responded, trying to get my motivation back has been so difficult..when I first started this I was so motivated because I just found out that I have diabeties and something inside me was fighting back, there is something inside me that is afraid to succeed or a pattern that has always been in my life about everything is that i will only allow myself to go so far and then i hit a wall and that's where i'm at again, at this wall in my life and to push past it seems impossible, sorry for venting and getting all personal, i'm just so tired of losing this battle

You aren't losing the battle. You haven't given up.

Wow, we have almost the same story. Starting weight, current weight and end goal are very similar! Look at how far we have come! And yes, we both got off track and gained some back...but guess what? You didn't gain it ALL back and you are reaching out for support. I call that WINNING! And tryett said exactly what my thoughts were....you aren't losing the battle, because you are still fighting. Remind yourself why you are doing this and picture yourself at goal and how happy and healthy you will feel. We got this!!

Hiya! I'm brand new to this (just joined today). I read your post, "...and just recently I hit a plato where I didn't lose not one single pound for the month, I was journaling everything I ate and drank, walked the treadmill twice a day for 20 minutes and results where." I have had success with weight-loss and I think these tips may help.
    1) Let your body rest: Your body needs time to, what is called, "Rest and Digest." This means that it's important to get enough rest/sleep (make sure you're sleeping enough everyday).
    2) Also, exercising everyday can be a deterrent to weight-loss. After working out day-after-day, it's best to take one day to rest and not do your intense exercise (your body, and your muscles, needs time to rebuild and maintain homeostasis).
    3) Reduce your stress. When your body is stressed, cortisol (stress hormone) levels rise and they cause you to gain weight.

I hope this was helpful! Good luck on your journey to a healthier life.

    Best,
    Harper.

I made some really great changes here recently and I'm getting back on track. You would like a friend invite me.
BTW, that is great losing those lbs. It is not easy.

Nothing worst than losing the same weight again :s . Just stay committed to getting healthy:smile: The main thing of course is not to give up! Look back on your food / exercise journals and just keep going forward. Put Post-it's on mirror and on refrigerator to encourage you. Like "I got this" or "I am working my way to better health":sunglasses: NEVER GIVE UP!!!! Your not alone!
