I have a real problem spot, my inner thighs. I have a flap of fat on each side, and it is really disgusting looking. How to I target this area and burn the fat? I am doing walking DVD's but I am not sure if this will target this area. Any suggestions?

You can't spot reduce fat, the only way to remove fat is to eat a healthy diet, with a deficit that is suitable to your body fat percentage and get a good solid 4 to 6 days of moderate to hard exercise in every week.0

I agree with the above post, but I also do leg scissors. Just lay on your side an lift you leg up straight as many times as you possibly can. That helped me out and I hope it helps you too!0

Like shboss said you can't spot reduce plus I have heard that area is one of the last areas to go. I only two areas I still need work on and that is one of them.0

squats, the splits and lots of stretching.0

It's said that abs starts in the kitchen. To me the body starts in the kitchen. In order to lose fat and I'm not talking about scale weight, I'm talking about pounds of fat. There's a difference. You have to eat to lose. Cardio and strength training is also needed to lose fat.
Siobhanbohne, walking dvds are good. You will also need to get some cardio and strength workouts that works the whole body and also focus on the area that you want to tone up. You can't spot reduce, but you can spot tone.
Go to youtube and view Prevention Fitness Systems workouts by Chris Freytag. You can buy her workouts on Amazon. 10 Minute Solution has some good workouts too and The Firm.
I'm a big fan of Tae Bo. That's my number one workout. Billy has some wonderful workouts.
If you have cable and On Demand, check with your cable company to see if they carry Exercise TV. They have good exercises. If your cable company doesn't have it, you can go to their website and exercise to the free workouts. There's a lot of free workouts. You will have to watch the workouts on your computer. If you go to the Dollar Tree, you might find some of their workouts there. I have bought some 30 minute Exercise TV workouts from the Dollar Tree, when they have carried it. They don't carry them all the time. The 30 minutes workouts are some of the workouts from the 70 minute dvd. Amazon sells the full dvd. Check Marshall, I've bought a full 70 dvd from there. I've already owned the 30 minute workout.

you cant traget it as was said before. Muscle and strength training (outside of walking) will help tighten that area as the cardio helps you burn fat all over. When you have trouble spots you truly benefit from all over strength trainign, and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn naturally0

Girl I hear you, my thighs are my trouble spot. I feel like every other part of my body is shrinking EXCEPT for my thighs. But like SHBoss said, unfortunately we can't spot reduce fat  Just keep on with exercising and staying under your calorie goal. I still like to do leg exercises to work those muscles, but it still doesn't really have an effect on fat.0

cannot target areas of fat...body will use it as it needs it
you need to strengthen that area and get more muscle fibers ther
you cannot spot train0 -
I gained weight in this order:
Boobs + Bum + Thighs -> Belly + Arms + Back -> Chin + Cheeks
I think that means I will lose weight in the reverse order, good in that my boobfat will be spared, BAD in that I (and I know from experience) will be horribly gaunt looking in the face long before I have slender thighs or a flat tummy0 -
What kind of leg exercises do you do?0

I have a Thigh master thing (you put it between your legs and squeeze) I really noticed how fast I could feel muscle develop there, doing that every night paired with lunges and walking, I not have a gap between my legs!! YAY!! I have always had the ol' rubbage between the legs. Good luck!!!0

I am currently on a doctor prescribed 1500 calorie diet with 30 minutes of exercise 3 times per week. I have been exercising more like 5 times a week for 30 minutes. The DVD i do includes more than walking, there are side steps, leg lifts, knee lifts, kick backs and includes using 2 pound weighted balls with various arm lifts. I was just hoping there was more I could do, because of all the fat on my body, those are the worst because my legs are otherwise good looking.
@Angela: See above as far as the exercises I do.
@Megan: I SOOOOOO hate the rubbage, I have a bad problem with that too.0 -
Yeah, overall weight loss is all you can do. At my lowest weight I thought my upper body was almost too skinny, but my thighs remained. It's not fair, but no sense worrying about what you can't change.0

I also agree there's no way to spot reduce.
You could try leg lifts--there are a few different ways depending which muscles you wish to work.
~~outer thigh--lay on left side, raise and lower right leg do maybe 10 reps; turn over on right side & do left leg.
~~inner thigh--lay on left side, right leg bent knee with foot flat on floor and lift left leg 10 reps; turn over onto right
side to do right leg.
To add a bit of weight (for strength) you can do one of two things:
use ankle weights (for both exercise types) OR (for the outer thigh exercise) you can use the hand & arm you're not leaning on
to add a bit of gentle pressure on the leg (at the knee).0 -
