I've never been thin. Ever. Now that I'm losing weight (moved from obese to over weight today! Yay!) I can't picture stopping. I guess what I'm saying is this: I read posts where women say things like, "I dont want to lose too much weight and be boney" or "yeah, id like to be a size 8 as a goal!"

Now, that seems so weird to me! I can't imagine being too boney! If I could lose enough weight to reach a size 4i would (I'm 5'9) . Am I just being weird? Is this not a healthy mindset? I want to be mentally healthy as well as physically. Please give me advice!

honestly, for as tall as you are, a size 4 seems really small. and there IS such a thing as too small. believe it or not guys like a lil something to grab on to lol. and if a girls too skinny she might "break" during sex. that may be tmi, but im just stating my opinion lol. just focus on your health more than the size in the tags of your clothes, or the number on the scale. and you are a woman! you are supposed to have some curves! :drinker:

I'm no expert on eating disorders but what I think is you need to ask yourself; "Do I want to lose more weight because I enjoy the success, or is it because I wont be happy with my body?"

If you are just happy that you are losing and want to keep it up, but not to an unhealthy weight, I say roll with it.

It is all in how the clothes fit, not the number. Just stay healthy and you will succeed.

I would say 5'9 and size 4 would be too thin. The BMI chart gives you a range for your goal weight and I'm aiming for right in the middle. If one becomes too thin, then you'll be more susceptible to illness.......just my opinion. :flowerforyou:

I wouldn't focus on a size 4, unless of course you plan to be a fashion model! For best health you might want to consider getting your BMI in the healthy range. For a 5'9" woman, that would be a minimum weight of 125, a max of 169.

i am about 5'1" (a little under actually) and my *ideal* size is a 00. my *realistic* size is about a 3 or a 4. if that. i wish i could weigh 110 but i know i can't focus on numbers but how i look. i look in the mirror and lets face it i have wide set hip bones a lot of heavy thick hair and a fairly large chest i would look ill at 110, my goal weight is set at 130 for now, i may bring it up to 135 or 140, well see when i get there. i've only lost 11 pounds and i look a whole lot thinner because of my small stature, everyone has to find their "happy weight" where their body likes to be. i think mine is a little higher since i have a wide frame. i like my curves and i don't wanna look like a pole.

I'm almost 5'9 and I would love to be a size 4. I want to be thin and lean and that might be too thin for some people, but I'm not losing weight for anybody but myself so...I also know that I have a smaller frame so a size 4 wouldn't be bad. My sister is 5'8 and about a size 4 and she's thin, but really muscular. No guy would look at her and think she would break in half in a strong gust of wind. Some women want to be thinner and some want to have more curves. There's nothing wrong with either, it's just personal preference. Life would be boring if everyone was the same.

I think since you have never been thin that ou have a hard time picturing too thin for yourself. As long as you are eating healthy and exercising for health in general; I think you will know when you get to a good weight for you.

I am 5'4" and weighed around 100 pounds when I graduated high school, slowly gained to about 120 or so when I was on Depo Provera, and then my weight crept up to around 130-135; I got pregnant and weighed 170 pounds when I had my daughter; I lost 20 pounds between baby and water weight but the other 20 has stayed with me...I am now working to get the baby weight off and would love to get down to about 120 again...100 is just too skinny to me, I was just skin and bones, not fit and i want to be healthy and fit.
