Alternative snack ideas

Just trying to see what other people eat for snacks. My family likes to do a movie night on the weekends, and its been my habit to sit and eat popcorn or chips while watching the movie. I have tried replacing these with carrot chips and celery stalks, even pickles all of which I enjoy. I was looking to add a few more choices for variety, any ideas on some other healthy snacks to try on movie nights.

First, as long as you plan and fit it into your calorie goals, you can eat anything you like. (I find that prelogging works great.)

Air popped popcorn is the lowest in calories of popcorns and you can eat some volume. I jazz it up with a few sprays of olive oil (which I do count), salt, and seasonings. Plus, being a whole grain, you get the benefit of lots of fiber. I fit in popcorn almost every single night because I love it.

For crunch, I also like to snack on dry cereal, like oatmeal squares. My teenagers snack on Cheerios.

Try the almond nut thin crackers, hummus, roasted nuts, dried fruit trail mix, triscuits, rice cakes with peanut butter or olives.

Pretzel crisps and hummus (I like the mini cheddar ones) or green peppers and hummus. Cheese sticks. Biscotti is I have the calories. Kind bars.

I like munching on frozen peas. No need to cook! They're sweet and crunchy and perfect on a hot summer's night!

Also, watermelon, and grapes, and leftover steamed veggies are good to munch on.

I love homemade popcorn (or fat free microwave kind) or snap pea crisps.

Grannie smith apple and cheddar cheese is a good combo and it's really good for you too. Apple chunks and peanut butter is always a good snack too
