Skinny Fat

Hi. I am Jean, 22. I lost a total of 50 pounds since I began my diet. I started myfitnesspal months after I started my clean diet routine. Now, I am stuck at 60 kilograms. My goal is to reach 55. I noticed that I am having problems being skinny fat particularly in the belly area and arm area. I used to do cardio 6 times a week, but it has then stopped because I tried this low-carb routine (Atkins) which make me feel tired everyday. What I wanted to ask you guys is : how do I lose the 5 kg? And how do I stop being skinny fat? I am lifting weight twice a week.

FYI: .

I don't eat food with lotsa added sugar. I eat mostly veggies. Just a week ago, I started to add chicken to my diet (for protein). I also increased my protein intake because I read that it can burn the fat mass. Is that true? I am worried because I gained 1 kg since last week, I don't think this low-carb program works, or am I not just patient?

I would suggest a recomposition. You might not necessarily lose those last 5kg, but you'll be building muscles, which will make you look slimmer.

This thread contains useful information: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1

For the food side of things, there are by far more knowledgeable people than me to help you.

Cheers and best of luck.

Lift really heavy: squats, deadlifts, bench press, pull-ups, push-ups

First of all eat more protein while eating at a deficit helps to maintain your current mass. Muscle itself does not burn fat, but the more muscle you have (lean body mass) you can increase the metabolism thus an up tick in a few more calories burned through the day. If you were to put on/build significant amount of muscle the higher the metabolism.

If you want to get rid of skinny fat.. 3 things

    1) Recomp
    2) Continue cutting (dieting at a deficit)
    3) Start now with bulking and cutting cycles.

You will need a good progressive overloading strength program in any of the 3 you choose. And you should consider around a .8gr to 1 gr. per body weight protein intake.

If I read this right and you are doing low carb, then doing low carb and presumably you are doing high fat, will entail you to loose a lot of water in the first week or two (water weight, not fat). You will not lose weight or fat any better or faster doing this diet. It is just a way to eat your macros differently to lose , plus this comes with really icky side effects.

If you gained then some questions needs to asked about your logging habits. Many factors at play how and when the body retains water, sodium intake, time of the month for females, changes in volume or increase exercise in the recent past, etc..

clean eating isn't required for weight loss

if you aren't happy with what you look like it's time to re-evaluate what your goals are...do you want to lose more weight or do you want to be "smaller"

and you don't have to do low carb either to lose weight...you can eat whatever you want...I prefer not to do low carb due to the lack of energy I have experienced in the past

And when you say you are lifting what program are you following

eating more protein does not help burn fat...it helps maintain muscle mass while losing fat:

The gain could be as simple as water retention.
